Went to the bar here, which is the mother hotel of the hotel I was staying at. It opens at 5pm. You almost do a u-turn at the reception desk and go up the stairs to the 2nd floor. Its a very cozy bar and they were playing live jazz. Everyone was nice. It was very chill. I can’t imagine wild party animals coming here. Good place to relax have a drink and have a good conversation.

Let’s start with what a great front desk staff. Information about Stockholm cards, SL cards, locations of places tend to get a little vague towards the end of their respective online information pages. The staff was very knowledgable and was able to fill in the appropriate information so you could make the right decision. If you had a question or a problem they were happy to take care of it. The location was two blocks from a metro station which could take you anywhere in Stockholm so couldn’t be more convenient. The rooms were great. Even had a bathtub. It was a real quiet place which is hard to find in a large city. Breakfast was included for us and was extensive(breads, cheese, yogurt, cereal, Swedish meatballs, sausage, bacon, three types of eggs, juice, coffee). You get the idea. There were many restaurants within a few blocks or if you had a Stockholm card just metro down to Gamia stan or Sergels torg in the time it takes to walk a few blocks.

The Hotel Hellsten is centrally located in the heart of Stockholm, and is within walking distance of several neighborhoods of interest, as well as the Central Train Station. There is a T subway line within a block on Sveavagen. Several excellent restaurants and bars are within a 10 minute walk in any direction. Most of the guests appeared to be business travelers. Hellsten has a conference center that was booked by several different groups on our stay. The rooms are incredibly tiny, and the hotel’s website does not portray the rooms in an accurate light. We had a standard double, and you could barely walk into the room. For couples accustomed to a large bed, you may laugh as you fall on the ground, as the double beds separate even during innocent activities like sleep. The bathrooms are also incredibly efficient, and by efficient, I mean tiny. Based on my experiences on this trip, Swedes will attempt to put a toilet and sink in any space that is at least one square meter. I’ll never complain about my bathroom at home again. Service here was very friendly. The front desk staff, cleaning staff, bar and restaurant staff were all very accommodating. Hellsten has a small dry sauna that is available by appointment between 8AM-10PM, and a small gym(open 24 hours). Both are nice amenities when you are fighting a nine hour time shift. There is also a communal computer and printer available. Breakfast is served daily. I don’t know if it is a traditional Swedish breakfast, but there were a lot of krispbrods like Wasa Bread, cheese, pickled fish, «caviar» in a tube, as well as eggs, bacon, yogurt and fresh fruit. I loved it. The best thing about Hellsten was the amazing pricing, for a week, we paid less than 6000SEK, that’s less than $ 750 for a week. For the location, it was a steal.

Hellsten is a nice small hotel that feels very cozy. Centrally located on quiet street(it is close to the city center, two subway stations Hötorget and Rådmansgatan both within easy walking distance). If staying there during the summer ask for one of the rooms with balcony(no extra charge). All rooms have one or more pieces of furniture the owner of the hotel has collected during his travels around the world. The owner is also very much into music so certain evenings their is mainly jazz music being played in the bar. The same owner has another hotel right across the street(Rex Hotel) which is slightly cheaper(the rooms are however smaller). Breakfast was very good when I stayed(granted it was a while since last), the selection was not that wide but what was there was good quality.
