Herat Kebab

The owner is kind and polite, as well as most of her family members who cook. The food is decent for the price. The service … well… don’t count on it. They accept reservations for take-​out by phone, but it is not very reliable, mostly because they do not speak well French nor English. The atmosphere is, as already mentioned by others, very simple and low key, but it corresponds to the price level. The only very negative point is the impolite and aggressive lady at the cashier who does not cook but just takes orders. She does not recognize when they commit mistakes in the orders, and she does not even apologize. Worse, she tells customer who dare asking why the ordered food for take away three hours earlier, is not even prepared to be cooked half an hour later than when it was supposed to be delivered, she replies that it is an insult to her to ask, and if the customer is not happy he/​she can stop coming, and that they have plenty of other customers anyways. With this attitude, I am not ready to go back to this place again. I wonder if they will survive much longer with such an attitude anyways.

The atmosphere could be improved a bit, the service wasn’t as friendly as it could be, but the kebabs were excellent. Great value– plates in the ~17CHF range, great quality, and big portions. Recommended!

If you like Persian food or you want to try for the first time without spending 30 – 40 CHF, I would suggest you to stop at Herat Restaurant. They have a nice choice of different Kababs.
Atmosphere ²⁄₅: Not a huge fan of the atmosphere, the restaurant has 2 tables of 6 for people to seat at. I would have set up tables of 2 that you can play with if you have a larger party coming. The restaurant has a market next to it if you’re looking for special middle-​eastern spices.
Food ⁵⁄₅: Food was good and portion are huge as you can see on the picture. I had a Kabab Soltani which is a Ground Beef skewer and a Filet Skewer. It was really good and tasty. The meat was juicy as well. The place also have different options like Pizzas or Gyros.
Service ⁵⁄₅: Service was great. It’s a family-​run restaurant and they did a good job at make us feel like we were at home.
Overall a good restaurant for a good price vs. quantity. I am not a huge fan of the location but I will be back just to support my community since they’re doing a good job at it.
