Restaurant Yoshino

Hier ist mein absoluter Lieblings Restaurant.
Leider hat meiner Freundinnen mir eine Überraschung zum Geburtstag ein Dessert bestellt aber die hab ich nie bekommen. :(

Gutes Teriyaki und eine riesige Auswahl!

Das Yoshino war so ein Zufallstreffer… und der hat sich gelohnt!
Es ist ein kleines, aber sehr gemütliches Restaurant mit sehr netter Bedienung. Ich stell mir meine Sushi-​Platte selber zusammen und jedes Mal bibbere ich, ob ich vielleicht doch abwaschen gehen muss, da es mein Budget sprengt. Aber dies ist nicht der Fall! Ich finde die Preise absolut fair. Mit Vorspeise, Sushi-​Hauptgang (und zwar eine grosse Portion), Tee und Softgetränke komm ich auf rund 65 — 70.- und das ist echt ok.
Besonders gefällt mir, dass es meist freie Tische hat. Die Suppen sind richtig gut und sind auch ausreichend proportioniert. Das Sushi ist frisch, richtig frisch. Ich persönlich mag es, wenn der Reis nicht eiskalt ist, sondern noch lauwarm.
Viel zu meckern gibt’s eigentlich nicht. Einzig etwas mehr Dessertmöglichkeiten würde ich mir wünschen.

For Japanese restaurants, I feel more comfortable and feel confident about the choice when the restaurant is small and cozy. Yoshino was one of these tiny restaurants.
Service was attentive (a bit too attentive…) and fast.
My friend and I had udon and it was pretty good. Rich broth with lots of vegetables and quite a few prawns. One of the very good udons I’ve had outside of Japan. Price was between 18 – 22 CHF.
I will definitely come back when I’m in the mood for hot soup with beer or sake.
PS: cold beer and warm udon get along pretty well with cold winter.

I rate this place 4 stars due to the freshness of its sushi, the appealingness of both its raw and cooked foods, the service and proximity to the HB. However, it stands to lose it’s 4 star rating to 3 stars due to lack of customer ambiance, as I hope this is one-​off.
Envisioning a Memoirs of a Geisha or Kill Bill effect of going into this restaurant on a Saturday night, but instead landed with the boring parts of Lost in Translation. No court jesters in sight. Just streams of hesitant couples staring at the menu outside whilst walking by, staring at the emptiness of the customer base, looking at me, and walking away. It didn’t help that this restaurant is located right across from cablecom and the ‘back’ part of the main train station, so a bit quiet and kinda spotty feeling at night. However, the restaurant did manage to draw two couples in, probably thanks to me as a token Asian-​looking person sitting by the window, advertising the suspicion that perhaps this is an authentically tasty place.
However, the food and wonderful service managed to keep me awake and excited for a bit. Since I was torn over choosing the chiriashi, the bento box and sushi, I gave the friendly waitress an interrogation of questions that would make anyone feel exploited. She answered them with great care and detail and gave me very good answers. I ended up with a sushi regular for CHF 30 – 35 and it was very fresh. If you also want sashimi, I’d recommend to pay 10 francs more and get the Yoshino special. It’s probably even shareable between two girls with small appetites (certainly not me)!
The menu boasts of an array of cooked/​raw Japanese foods, and a vast selection of alcohol and non-​alcoholic beverages. I’d recommend this restaurant for those who squirm at the thought of raw fish, as the cooked foods here looks/​smells promising.
The couple next to me ordered (1) bento box with chicken, which also came with salad and three pieces of sushi rolls (2) chicken teriyaki, which both looked and smelled superb. The smell was so enticing that I was drooling even though I was full with sushi, a strange feeling to combat. I will have to come back and try out the cooked portion of the menu, and hoping for better customer ambiance next time!

Lecker. Sushi und köstliche asiatische Salate. Alles frisch und richtig gut.
Vielleicht sind sie etwas umständlich. Und der Wein ist keine Offenbarung. Aber Bier geht ja auch.
Ach ja: die Preise sind echt ok.

Nunmal eines der besten und preiswertesten Japanischen Restaurants der Stadt.
Natürlich bin ich auf dieses Lokal, mittels meiner Sushi-​Fress-​Kollegin gekommen. Ab und zu esse sogar ich hier ein Stück, meist von ihrem Teller, weil ich keine ganze Platte rohen Fisch vertrage.
Mein absoluter Favorit im Yoshino ist eine Vorspeise, der Wakame Salat.
Wakame ist eine grüné Seealge, die auch wirklich nach Alge aussieht. Céline, die Sushi-​Tante, hatte mir den empfohlen. Sie sagte mir aber nicht, dass es sich dabei um Algen handelt, weil ich ihn sonst sicher nicht genommen hätte.
Als die Schale mit dem Glibberzeug kam, verschlug es mir fast die Sprache. Ich dachte echt, die hätten in der Limmat auf Algen gefischt. Doch der so typische abgestandene Algengeschmack blieb aus.
Mit verzogenem Gesicht packte ich das Glibberzeug auf eine Gabel und versuchte darauf rum zu kauen. Die Konsistenz war schon eher gewöhnungsbedürftig, waiss nicht ob ich das nur im Kopf so empfand, aber der Geschmack wirklich super. Schön frisch und würzig waren sie.
Also für alle die offen für neue Geschmacksrichtungen sind, der Wakame Salat ist wirklich zu empfehlen.
