The International

First things first: I’m not a beer drinker. But I love trying new things and absolutely adore small businesses making a go of it doing something new.
I tried The International Beer Bar recently with friends from work, knowing that most of them really love beer but none of them had been there yet. Upon arrival, everyone immediately got excited with all the choices on the menu board. We have colleagues from all over Europe, so some enjoyed seeing favorites from their home countries, others were happy to try a new Swiss beer, and I was just excited to take suggestions and try something different. Everyone had a great evening and are looking forward to the next round of beers!

Mein zweiter Besuch im International und es war einmal mehr einfach süffig :-) Die Bar war an diesem Mittwoch gut besucht, aber wir konnten mit etwas Geduld einen Platz direkt vor den Zapfhahnen ergattern. Heute war unser Motto die Indian Pale Ales im Offenausschank zu geniessen. Drei verschiedene IPA standen zur Auswahl, eines besser als das andere. Zum Dessert gab’s dann noch ein aromatisiertes Bier mit Schokoladengeschmack: Samuel Smith Chocolate Stout. Ein Traum für den Connaisseur! Freunde des Bieres, hier kommt ihr voll auf eure Kosten. Hingehen und geniessen!

Great new bar in Zurich, what a great find for us! The selection of beers is impressive but what’s more impressive is the staff and owner. Will come back again!

Diese Bar hat in Zürich gerade noch gefehlt! Wirklich!
Während es in der durchschnittlichen Beiz grade mal 1 Bier und in einem Pub vielleicht 6 ab Fass gibt, hat The International etwa 10, und 90 weitere aus Flaschen und Dosen. Und das vor allem die in den letzten Jahren erblühte Schweizer Biervielfalt zelebriert wird finde ich sehr sympathisch. Daneben gibt es natürlich auch «the best of elsewhere».
The International hat nur 2 Nachteile:
— relativ klein (wenig Stehfläche im Vergleich zu einem Pub)
— zu weit weg von mir (wobei — ist vielleicht für meine Figur besser)

Im The International bist du goldrichtig, wenn du Bier liebst und neue Biere aus aller Welt entdecken willst. Die Bedienung ist sehr kompetent und freundlich, die Bierauswahl ist riesig. Davon abgesehen ist die Bar aber nichts Spezielles. Fazit: Für Bierliebhaber definitiv ein Besuch Wert.

Tolle Bar mit netten und zuvorkommenden Betreibern. Das Ambiente ist toll und man kann unzählige Biersorten ausprobieren.
Vom HB Zürich ist man zu Fuss schnell dort (10 – 15 min)

Die Idee eine Bar zu eröffnen die alle Biere der Welt anbietet ist toll. Jedoch finde ich die Lokalität viel zu klein, es war pumpenvoll und man hatte keinen Platz auch nur einigermaßen zu stehen. Für einen Abendausflug mit Freunden ist das nichts, jedoch kann ich mir vorstellen, dass man am Nachmittag Platz hat.
Wenn Du für ein Glas Bier bis zu 20.00 CHF ausgeben möchtest oder dich mal durch die ganze Palette der Biere durch trinken möchtest, dann kann ich Dir diese Bar nur empfehlen.

Great little neighborhood beer bar!
I went to check out this new bar in my neighborhood last night for the first time with a friend. Befitting to its name, the bar has a huuuge beer selection from across the globe (a little overwhelming). The ambiance is relaxed and pleasant, not too loud for a conversation like most bars are. Like their beer selections, the afterwork crowd was fairly mixed as well, lots of English speakers. There aren’t many places to sit down but we were lucky enough to get a small table as soon as we walked through the door.
The only thing that’s missing is some light finger food. I went in on an empty stomach and got a little tipsy after 2 beers due to the lack of nibbles ;)
The International is definitely a welcomed new addition to Kreis 5. I’m looking forward to trying out more of their beer selections in the near future.

This bar opened next to Riff Raff a few weeks ago, and we’re glad it did! Good beer selection (especially a few Swiss microbrews we haven’t had before), friendly bartenders, and music that doesn’t keep you from having a conversation. No food, but a great place to meet before or after dinner.

Really nice little beer bar!
I was here for the first yesterday. It’s right in cross of Riff Raff. It’s a very small cosy beer bar. It’s owned by a Irish (or British) guy. Very nice and friendly guy. I think he doesn’t speak german, but it fits the bar.
He has more then 100 different beers. He categories them on a board above the bar. And he has like 7 — 8 beers on draft.
As I didn’t know too much beers I asked him what he would recommend me. He did that very well. Asked me 3 — 4 little questions, I could taste a beer and tell him what was good and not so good and based on my feedback he gave me an other one to taste. Who was good. Really good.
The guy has a clue about beer for sure !!!
The prices are normal prices for those kind of beers.
The only little disappointment: the belgian beer selection (as a belgian myself I like my beers :))

Gross ist sie nicht, die Bar. Dafür aber sehr hoch und voll mit Bier. Es gibt wohl kaum einen Platz in Zürich, bei dem es so eine riesige Auswahl Bier gibt. Wenn ihr glaubt, dass man nur für Wein viel Geld ausgeben kann, dann werdet ihr hier eines Besseren belehrt. Über 140 Flaschenbiere und 8 Fassbiere werden ausgeschenkt, die Preise variieren zwischen 5 und 50 CHF. Die Sorten wechseln immer wieder, Wünsche werden gerne angenommen.
Das Team ist super nett und unterstützt gerne all diejenigen, die sich im Bier-​Geschmacks-​Dschungel zu verirren drohen. Besonders spannend wird es dann bei wärmeren Temperaturen. Dann kann die gesamte Frontseite samt Türe in den Boden versenkt werden und die Bar und der kleine Vorplatz werden eine Einheit.
