Aloha and welcome to The Banana Deck, home of the Big Deck Burger! Located in downtown Cruz Bay on St. John, we offer a full menu of casual Caribbean cuisine and American classics! We’re all about providing good food and good service in a great atmosphere to bring our customers the best experience!

Sit in our open air dining room and enjoy scenic views of Cruz Bay while dining, or join us at the bar and enjoy a cocktail or two while watching boats lazily bob up and down in our crystal clear waters.

Stop on by and try one of our daily specials or just grab a small bite at the bar and enjoy one of many specialty «Island Drinks.» We offer $ 1 off all drinks during Happy Hour, between 4:30 and 6:30 pm.

You definitely don’t want to miss our famous Bloody Mary Bar. Each Saturday and Sunday from 11 to 3, come make your own special Bloody Mary. Choose your size, liquor brand, ingredients, toppings and seasonings. We have over 10 specialty hot sauces to choose from as well as our special house-​made Fluffy’s Spicy infused vodka!

We also have a great selection of local Island Brews from St. John Brewers, as well as many mainland staples.

Located downtown, The Banana Deck is a short walk from the ferry dock, across from the Beach Bar and Warfside, just a flight up, but a world away! We hope to see you soon!

The Banana Deck has been serving Cruz Bay since 2000. Our mission is to provide great food and great fun in a friendly, welcoming environment. With over 14 years of success, we look forward to adding you to our long history of happy customers.

I don’t order burgers much, in fact, this was probably the 3rd time I’ve ordered one in my life! NO regrets! I saw another patron (a teenage boy) eating one and I was intrigued. The Big Deck Burger was so juicy, tasty and messy but it was so worth the carb and calories! Delish! Our server, Jake, and everyone else were so friendly. Would come back if time permits!

I don’t know about you, but I prefer to spend the last night of every vacation I take drinking heavily and watching Family Feud. It’s kind of a tradition [that we started here and may or may not ever do again except for the drinking heavily part].
The Banana Deck has nice bartenders, the BBC (some sweet drink that everyone was loving as I drank tequila), and allegedly some amazing ice cream desserts that we never got to try because the kitchen closes too early.
And of course, they play the Feud.

We had a BLAST here! Our family has come to St John multiple times but never tried this place before but I can say confidently we will always come back. First off the service! Our waitress Courtney was pure delight and we had a blast chatting with her. She was very attentive and made us feel so welcomed. Secondly the food! Amazing! We all tried something different but the seafood was some of the best we’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend the seafood platter or the jerk burger. Both all made with local ingredients and cooked to perfection. Can’t get too much better then that! Lastly the drinks were very yummy. If you’re hankering for a tropical treat make sure you try the BBC! Delicious! Ask for Courtney when you go and you will not be disappointed! Can’t wait to come back next year!

Went to lunch. I was early. Got the conch fritters and burger. I think the conch fritters were leftover. The hamburger was okay. (The hamburger at the waterfront bistro blows all others away!) the service was very good. But I would not go back.

Great dinner option. We didnt wanna go somewhere generic, so we asked our fishing captain where he goes to eat and he said go to Banana Deck and get steak. So we did. It was fantastic. Haha go figure, we go to St John and have a great steak dinner…
When we first arrived I was honestly kinda skeptical. It seemed like more of a drinks and snacks kinda place, but we stayed. The appetizers were great and we both had nicely cooked, and delicious steak dinners. Give it a shot!

We all had a burger or wrap, and everything was fantastic. Of course the adult beverages and beers were cold and delicious!
Had their double burger and it was on point. Everything tastes like heaven after spending the morning on the beach!
Lots of choices on the lunch menu, plus a few specials. Close to a parking lot.

Wow. Highly recommend. Early dinner sat upstairs where we could see Cruz Bay. Nice breeze blowing and the best Blackened Mahi sandwich i have had in a LONG time. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned and the bun was soft and fresh.

Came in for lunch and had delicious burgers and drinks! The bartender/​server was the only one serving and he was on it, never skipped a beat to help all at tables and the bar with food and drinks. Our food was so good, we highly recommend their burgers!

This is a perfect bar for day drinking and we went back here for dinner because it was convenient and were so glad! The food was the best. We had surf and turf platters, with shrimp scallops and the best filet I have probably ever had. Every thing was flavorful and delicious. I appreciated every morsel that went into my mouth.
Plus, because we had been there during the day, just wasting our vacation away drinking and watching huge lizards move about the premises, the bartender was exceptional to us during dinner service. I loved this place and would say if you have a stereotype of the best vacation bar in your mind, this will meet your expectations.

Terrible service. Stood there for 10 minutes waiting for a maitre d’ to show up. Several waitresses kept scurrying by without making any eye contact. We had to stand in the way of one to ask if anyone was around to seat us. Someone was supposed to find the maitre d’ but we decided to just leave.

Enjoyed our experience here… The service was particularly great (Kelly was awesome). The ambiance was very «islandish», the food was good and just all in all a great time.
Had a party of 6, plus a baby, after a bit of a snafu at time of seating, they really stepped up their game… Got us a table upstairs, with a high chair as we had reserved.
The food was good… We had the cheese sticks, shrimp, jalapeño poppers, and wings for apps. Definitely recommend the wings and poppers.
For entrees had several different things and all were solid. The steaks were definitely worth ordering just don’t expect it to be a mainland steakhouse.
Good desserts as well and of course plenty of good island drink choices…

Some of the BEST fried chicken (Honey stung chicken) I’ve had in a while! So crispy & flavorful.
Service was awesome and had a nice view of the ocean with a breeze. Drinks were strong and tasty and I really didn’t want to leave.
Definitely recommend for a nice chill place to grab a bite.

After a beautiful day of touring St. John, our group of 4 needed a quick (less than 45 minutes) meal before catching the hourly ferry (@4 PM) to St Thomas.
Unfortunately, this was the time when most businesses were not open until dinner at 5 PM. Banana Deck was also closed but the owner/​manager checked with its kitchen and they graciously gave us access to the snack and sandwiches part of the menu.
So we all had frozen Painkillers and I had their Conch Fritters (these were tasty crispy balls of conch served with Roasted Red Pepper Remoulade but If no one had told me it had conch in them, I wouldn’t have known) with an excellent Blackened Mahi sandwich, with a thick serving of perfectly seared mahi mahi and thick fries.
Unfortunately, the time left to eat our meals was only 15 minutes before rushing off to the ferry, so we did not get a chance to really savor the wonderful deck and outside atmosphere. So plan ahead and try this place if you have some time to relax in Cruz Bay.
