Great breakfast, I got some eggs and toast and there was some great service.

A coffee shop/restaurant with take out downstairs and seating upstairs. Local artists’ work for sale is a nice touch. They do a menu of breakfasts and sandwiches, with tapas in the evening(which friends assure me are excellent). Coffee/tea were great, food was very nice, although a bit pricy(tenner for a large breakfast) and service was friendly. I’m not sure it’s reasonably priced enough to become a regular haunt, but I’ll definitely head back some time.

I loved the food! We were on vacation from Germany in Scotland and I have to say, that the Scottish breakfast that we ate was gorgious!!! Very good! The food tastes very fresh and the spices are very good! I fell in love with your cheese sausages and came extra back for them on my last day in Aberdeen! My husband loves your jam that I bought! Lots of success and luck for your shop and your very nice staff!

Nearly opposite Books and Beans, this is a great place for a cooked breakfast if you are feeling affluent. The sandwiches are decent too. It’s less comfy than some cafes, and I wouldn’t feel too confident about taking a young child there though my 8-year-old liked it now she’s able to sit quietly and chat over a meal. There are stairs up to the main dining area(take-away samdwiches and food can be got downstairs), so also not sure about wheelchair or puschair access. There are lots of choices on the menu, and some really nice soft drinks, so it could certainly stand a repeat visit, but it is a bit on the pricey side.

The beautiful mountain is a gorgeous sandwich shop downstairs with a café upstairs. If you are looking for a take-away sandwich, baguette etc then this is the place. You can choose the bread you would like– white, wholemeal and then you can choose from a range of fillings including salmon, beef, ham, different types of cheese, chicken etc and it is all made freshly in front of you and you can choose what condiments you would like added. They also sell a range of drinks, crisps, cakes and freshly made soups. Upstairs is a small café that probably seats 30 people and you can choose from a range of hot and cold sandwiches and baguettes or soup and a sandwich and they also do a traditional fried breakfast too. I really love the Beautiful Mountain and recommend the food there. The prices aren’t too bad with a baguette priced £2.50-£3 although they are more to sit in and eat.
