When the Market Hall was destroyed by fire a few years ago, one of the stalls I missed most was Gleaves. Whether buying broken biscuits, exquisite handmade Easter eggs or weird sherbert concoctions, this wonderful confectionary stall was a huge part of my childhood. And I’m sure loads of other people feel the same. Luckily, though, Gleaves returned when the Hall reopened. The new stall is a little smaller than the old one, but it’s still pretty wonderful! Many of the products are loose and sold by weight, which makes them really cost effective. And all the staff are lovely!
