History

Established in 2002.

The origins of Tapas have long been disputed, but there is no doubt that this traditional Spanish bar food has become a firm favourite of the public, even outside of Spain. Based on the inventive use of local, seasonal ingredients to make small plates of bar food, Tapas is best coupled with a drink and shared in the company of friends.

The word «tapas» stems from the Spanish verb tapar, meaning «to cover» with one school of thought believing that the original Tapas were simply pieces of bread or meat placed over a glass to keep the flies away. Others argue that tapas developed from Spanish bar room drinkers setting their plates of food on top of their drink between bites.

It was the bar owners themselves who gave Tapas their modern day identity however, creating a range of dishes from their regional produce and adding in a healthy dose of their own personality along the way.
