Hi Juice Bars

There used to be two Hi-​Juices, one in Ilford and one in Barkingside. Unsuprisingly the one in Barkingside no longer exists. It turns out that people rarely think of a fruit smoothie in between doing their banking and hunting charity shops for third hand Agatha Christie novels.
So I’ll concentrate my review on the one in Ilford. I kind of have a grievance with this and many fruit smoothie places. Why did smoothies suddenly become so fashionable?. I love a good smoothie; i.e. an Innocent branded bottle or a Daniel J homemade speciality. but I can’t really comprehend all the smoothie shops that’ve popped up everywhere rather hastily.
They tend to be staffed by young students who don’t really know what they’re doing. A Smoothie is like a cup of tea, when making it you need some love there, you need to care about your product. Good fruit mashed up together can be pure heaven, but in Hi-​Juice, even using their pre-​determined menu just seems to taste really bland, really quite terrible actually. There’s no love there. I recommend heading into Central London to get a ‘Good Morning Smoothie’ from Crussh. Those smoothies are really done right, which is rare. Other than that, give me a call and if I’m free I’ll make you one of my legendary (if only because of my bragging) fruit smoothies.
