What started out as a small store on a couple of derelict factories is now a beast. The shop was always overloaded with people and being Tesco’s they realised that they could expand the store and have overhauled the site considerably. The double-decker car park is an utter eyesore, which has now ruined the already-shabby Elmers End area. On the plus side, they bought an old access road and some waste ground from Network Rail to create a long-overdue bus station at Elmers End, creating a nice little train/tram/bus transport hub. It also has a Costa. The problem is, it caters to the people who come over the border from Croydon and the quality of the goods isn’t there. As a result, shopping can be an unpleasant experience. Sundays are suicide and I never quite feel safe hanging around there at night.
