I’ve never quite got this popular high-street chain — most of the stuff I really can’t see myself wearing. It seems to be either the über-fashionable or just a younger crowd, or maybe it’s just me. This store compliments the handful of others littered across the city and although isn’t the cheapest shop in Belfast it’s relatively well priced compared with a lot of the high-end stores in Victoria Square. The range is a mixture of men’s and women’s and it often reminds me a little bit on a grown-up Topshop. Worth a peek around.

Right. So River Island and I don’t get on that well. We just fundamentally disagree over how much Lycra and sequins should be used in fashion. That said, we get on very well when it comes to accessories, so this branch of the massive chain is right up my street since they have such a huge accessory department! The other branch on Donegall Place is probably about the size of the accessory department in Victoria Square, so it’s well worth going to. Also, if you do like their clothing, it’s probably best to go there first as they’re more likely to have it. The staff are also really pleasant(mostly. They do seem to get very bored at the fitting rooms!), so it’s not a stressful place to shop. Except or the Lycra obv.

Not a huge fan over River Island if I am honest. I do not like how they went through a faze of putting luminous colours on their clothes, maybe I don’t want to stand out? They also brand everything so that people know it is from River island, I know what your think and I know that is the point but it just annoys me. I went into the River Island in Victoria Square the other day to see if I could find anything at all that wasn’t branded or luminous. To be fair to River Island they seemed to have bucked up their ideas because I found some shirts, none of which I would wear, that were not luminous. I can not speak for the women’s section but I think the male selection of clothing is atrocious, I am not the most picky person in the world and I could barely find anything I liked in here. The shop is also really bright and the floor tiles started to give me a migraine or maybe it was all the luminous clothing, who knows?

River Island has over 260 stores across the UK and Ireland as well as stores across the globe in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. After success with both menswear and womenswear, the brand has just launched their first kidswear collection — River Island Boys & Girls, which caters for children aged 3 – 10 years old. I quite like this place, I think the clothes are trendy without being too arsehole-ish or too intimidating. This is a place that lots of people can shop and feel comfortable and fashionable. This is all good in my opinion.
