SS Nomadic

Wow the very last white star ship left out of hundreds. This is real heritage and history you can lay your hands on. This is the tender boat that actually carried people to titanic. And it was a troop ship in the first world war. Its rare to be able to get access to an historic vessel, its been restored in a perfectly accurate way and there’s no better place than the dock its in which its seen in a photo with titanic in the background being built.
I only wish they could trace the original engines and put it back into service. I wish this little boat could tell its stories. This little boat has had millions spent restoring it, something’s are worth it and this is one of them. The last true piece of our white star line past is with us and well worth seeing. I was at a pop up film night where I watched the titanic film being screened onboard nomadic, incredible, absolutely incredible feeling.

Being a huge Titanic fan, visiting the Titanic Quarter in Belfast was a must when my husband and I decided to visit Ireland. While the exhibit and being able to stand where Titanic was actually built was a highlight of our trip, I have to admit touring the Nomadic was our favorite part of our visit.
We had a woman named Gayle as our tour guide who refers to herself as a Titaniac and she is what made our visit most enjoyable. Her passion for the history of this little vessel will excite you and make you want to learn everything there is to know about Titanic’s little sister. Used as a tender to taxi passengers to the Titanic, this ship has been restored to its original glory. Most of the doors and paneling are original and there is also a seating area in the first class area that has never been touched after 104 years!!! What’s even better is that the tour guides actually encourage you to sit here where Molly Brown, John Jacob Astor, and countless others might have sat. Needless to say, you won’t want to miss this!!!

A restored tender ship of the Titanic, this small vessel is superbly done. The signage and interaction items are very well done.
There are four levels to to her. some costumes, some interactive games, and numerous videos, photographs, and artifacts. About a 1 – 2 hour stop. Very worthwhile.

My friend Sally Smith is addicted to gnomes. So I think this boat is named after her. SS Gnomeaddict. Don’t you?
This is review #1912 that I have written. I chose a Titanic review because that year is synonymous with the Titanic.
SSN stands for Sky Sports News to a lot of people living in the British Isles, but not to those in Belfast. At least not to some of them. It’s the SS Nomadic.
This is my first review in Ireland, ever (I think?) so I don’t want to be too mean. I mean, this is one of the star tourist attractions of Belfast, which is a wonderful and underrated and much-​maligned city. But I was shocked by how tiny the SS Nomadic is!
I mean, it’s supposed to be «the sister of the titanic», and it’s… well, a very very very newborn sister. It’s like a mini scale model of the titanic. It’s so tiny, you’ll think it’s a joke.
Once you get over the joke of it being so small, it is very cool, and for that reason I’ll give it a 4 star rating. Perhaps if I go again with someone that actually enjoys it instead of someone who ridicules it, it’ll get more than a 4 from me.

I first experienced the SS Nomadic for a friend’s surprise birthday party, and have to say the event was great. The surroundings were unique and the food and drink fantastic. After this I was compelled to return to do the tour of the boat. The tour guide was fantastic and showed us around everywhere while explaining the history of the ship. It was lovely to see the restored boat, and also hear about its history. There are many interactive features, and you are given free time to explore yourself after the guided tour. Would definitely recommend, whether you’re interested in the Titanic and Belfast’s history, or whether you just want something different to do some day!

Ok, so you’ve probably heard of the Titanic and you’ve probably visited the Titanic museum but have you heard of the SS Nomadic?
The SS Nomadic is very much part of the Titanic story, sometimes called ‘The Mini Titanic’ the SS Nomadic was built in Harland and Wolf alongside the infamous Titanic.
Nowadays it has been fully restored to its 1911 glory down to the smallest detail. You can now board the SS Nomadic as part of a tour group for £8.50, you will be amazed at the grandeur of the ship. Restoring this vessel is one of Belfast’s finest recent achievements and I think it provides a perfect prequel to the Titanic centre for visiting tourists.
The SS Nomadic also hosts various events such as movie nights and special paranormal tours — definitely worth a visit to Titanic’s little brother.
