Whenever I head to the Saturday market at St George’s the two things I never miss are fresh seafood from the multitude of fishmongers and fresh fruit and vegetables from one of the stalls. This probably has the most comprehensive range of the vegetable stalls on a Saturday. A wide range of fresh carrots, onions, shallots, root vegetables, potatoes as well as a variety of fresh fruit. The atmosphere is always friendly and of that traditional market trader environment. This is a place to haggle and banter with the grocers working there. I usually pick up the basics here, I always have carrots, celery, onions and garlic in the fridge as from that you can do just about anything Italian(every sauce base in Italy contains the three basics, finely diced carrot, celery and onion) Friendly quick service, great range and cheap(haggle worthy) prices.
