Markys Barbers

Markys barbers is the kind of place I wondered why I’d never noticed it before. Is it newly opened, or the lack of signage, or did I just never bother to look?
It was a rainy Saturday morning when I visited, and wasn’t expecting the shop to be busy as i assumed it was newly opened. There was one person before me having his hair cut, but I was served promptly afterwards.
The friendly guy who cut my hair was the owner, and it turned out he’d been in Barnehurst for a year, but had only recently put up a new sign. No wonder I’d never noticed it!
According to the owner the shop is still using a temporary fit out until the lease is confirmed, but I was told there’s plans for a renovation soon. Until that happens, it does feel a bit like a house where someone has recently moved in and not fully established themselves yet.
Haircuts are a personal thing, but I found the quality and service to be first rate. The owner mentioned he had decades of experience in cutting hair, having owned a few barber shops in others areas.
As I was leaving, another person came in and was waiting for a haircut, so they’ve obviously got a few customers despite their low key presence. I’m sure that’s a good sign of better things to come.
