I specialise in teaching people contemporary electric guitar styles. Genres include modern rock, blues and jazz fusion. Aspects of musicianship covered include music theory, reading from notation, improvisation and use of FX.

With so many people out there struggling to find ways to improve aspects of their playing, I am more than willing and able to lend a hand in aiding their development as both a musician and guitarist. I work with people to show them that they can overcome their frustration and progress by setting themselves specific goals that are both realistic and achievable.

History

Established in 2012.

After completing my studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester in 2010, I decided to share the knowledge and skills I gained as a musician with people looking for guitar lessons in the Birmingham area.

Since the start of this year I have been taking on students for private one to one lessons that take place in a rehearsal room located near Birmingham City Centre.

Meet the Business Owner

Ian S.

Business Owner

Ian has been playing guitar now for 17 years. He plays a variety of musical styles from rock, blues, funk to bits of jazz and fusion. He has a very high level of technical proficiency and is capable of some fast and precise licks as well as being competent at rhythm playing

He attended Access to Music ‘s Birmingham College from 2006-​08. During his time at Access to Music Birmingham, he was given the student of the year award in ’08 and collected it from the Mermaid Theatre in London.

Ian has studied at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music, a conservatoire in Manchester, from 2008-​10 under the expert tuition of a variety of session musicians from the northwest area of the United Kingdom. During his time there he was involved in a variety of activities including session playing for concerts and gigging with bands he was in across venues in Manchester.

He currently performs in Birmingham based instrumental band ‘Rise’ as well as teaching private guitar lessons.
