Three different types of cola bottles?! Oh, my wife and her two remaining teeth were delighted when I showed her this sweet shop.
It has a mix of the self-​consciously retro, the achingly old-​fashioned, classic penny chews, mix-​up bags sold by weight, standard choc and a few American imports. Along with a few responsibly juxtaposed items of tobacco paraphernalia, there are also those types of sweets for which you must fiddle with some contraption or other to mastermind increasingly overblown dispensing — you know, bubblegum coming out like a coiled tape measure, for when you absolutely positively have to play with your food.
Incredibly helpful staff aid the overall fun vibe at this tiny spot, which is about blowing not very much at all on empty calories which taste like a raspberry proposing to an orange during a romantic visit to custard. It prompted one giddy schoolboy during a recent visit to say to the vendor: ‘keep the change’. It all proves the lyrics of the song: The candy man CAN!
