I’m generally happy with this place these days. It’s very tight in parts but that’s the price paid for a half decent selection of stuff. The self serve/pay machines used to be a nightmare but they replaced them and they’re fine speed wise now. However, there is still no room to pack more than a few items, you still get the daft messages that the staff have to attend to and they often seem to have only small bags to pack with. But saying all that this is a ‘metro’ and really the challenges are just par for the course. Staff are Ok, but they don’t like working the tills and hang around hoping you’ll do self serve. So 3*** isn’t based on how brilliant the place is but more on what you might expect for similar convenience places.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. I hate this place. It never has anything I want. It forces me to settle for things I don’t want for an overly inflated price and they consistently put stuff in the wrong places on shelves so you accidentally think something is cheaper than it is. They also ensure they are conveniently out of stock whenever they have offers on, then on the day the offer ends, magically restock. This sounds insane but I know they do it. On the day an offer comes out they claim ‘no deliveries yet’ then the next day seem to have sold out and put a different size of that product on the shelf. Quite a few of the staff are grumpy as hell(I am not surpised, it is horrid in there) but some are nice. They don’t do cash back. If there were any other alternatives I would never set foot in there, but that’s all there is inthe jq. Ugh

This is my local Tesco, so it’s pretty convenient in location; but a bit of a pain in terms of selection and cost. As per normal with Tesco Express stores, they are more pricey than superstores — but certain products are a lot more expensive than if you trek down to the bigger store around the corner. The fruit and veg selection isn’t great, and this is my biggest bugbear; however, the home-baking selection is pretty darn good(?!). I have often found that items have been incorrectly priced or misplaced around the store, but the staff have always been helpful and sorted out mistakes for me(keep in mind if you are overcharged, you can clam back double the difference as per their policy). The alcohol selection has a good range of wines, beers and lagers — although the spirits aren’t that great. If you keep an eye on the wines, you can sometimes get a bin end bargain(I bagged a bottle of wine for £2.19 here last week). The reduced bargains are always worth looking out for if you need meat. I often get mince and steak from here for 20 — 40p!

This is a Tesco Express situated right by the Clock in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. A small supermarket which caters for all your basic needs, small selection of fruit n veg, sandwiches, pasta, rice, sauces, meals, meat, desserts, bread including some freshly baked rolls and baguettes, alcohol, cereals and so on. The best thing about this place is that it’s open from very early to pretty late and it’s very convenient for Jewellery Quarter residents. Friday and Saturday nights sometimes the stocks can be very depleted so don’t leave it too late! Sunday nights are good for bargains as there are usually a lot of reduced items. As with most Tesco Express stores the prices are slightly higher than at Tesco Supermarkets.
