So I ended up here yesterday with a friend to have a late lunch and a good catch up. We ordered steak and some chicken and well I have to say I was rather disappointed! My steak happened to be mostly fat and I had a hard time finding the parts I could eat and when I did, they were not nice at all. The chicken on the other hand tasted like rubber and very very dry. If it wasn’t for the amazing company I had then I would have complained, the serves were good though and very attentive.

Been here on a night out, for a drink and meal before. Decent selection of pub grub. The usual choices but from previous experience the food is well cooked and presented. Varies wine list and choice of beers and ciders.

The staff here is condescending and lazy. Ask to recommend a cider or ask for The Open to be put on TV instead of news, and they look at you like you are a burden. Screw them. Many pubs around.

I’ve been here a few times and it is usually my go to if the rest of the bars are too full in the rest of Brindley Place. It’s an inexpensive place, a bit nondescript but generally good. I had the aubergine bake which was really nice and filling. They have a decent selection of soft drinks too which is unusual.

The Brasshouse is situated on the outskirts of Brindley Place, just at the corner of Broad Street. It’s a chain pub(a Goose venue), so nothing unique or special, but it is rather large and always pretty busy. Due the the location, you tend to get a mix of the«Brindley Place»(slightly more discerning when it comes to posher venues) and the«Broad Street»(out for a laugh, the kind of people who want to dance the night away and drink«shooters») crowds. It’s no bad thing as it means the atmosphere is nearly always lively and the venue is filled with conversation and laughter. The food can be VERY hit and miss. It’s the kind of pub grub that you eat out of convenience, rather than a nice meal out. I have had fairly pleasing and very poor meals here; but what do you expect when you can get a meal, a side and a drink for under £10? We grabbed a bite here on Saturday(as a starting point for a CMYE) and a SF chicken burger, a grilled cheese chicken burger, curly fries, 2 portions of garlic bread and 2 soft drinks came to shy of £20. The garlic bread was pleasing enough, but the chicken was pretty dry and the bun was over toasted. I would recommend steering clear of anything«grilled»(as it may be dry), but I have eaten other foods here previously that were fine. The drinks selection is varied and pretty well priced. Unlike many a venue down this stretch of the woods, you can get 4 pints in for under a tenner(on selected days). The venue is getting on a bit now and as a result is a bit tatty(and retains a weird odor), but if you’re looking for a place to grab food and a drink near the lovely canals and Symphony hall; you could do far worse(and way more expensive) than the Brasshouse.

Why do I like The Brasshouse — because the music reminds me of my youth! :-)

Winners of Birmingham’s best bar award in 2001, Brasshouse is an extremely popular pub, located on Broad Street but near Brindley Place. A typical English pub, the Saturday that I visited was exceptionally busy, but I must admit, I didn’t have to wait long to be served. Due to its location, Brasshouse comes across as a fairly upmarket English pub, with only a pint of Carlsberg costing you under £3,. The food served is of a good quality as well, with an array of offers available, including two meals for £7.95. Despite all this, The Brasshouse’s real attraction is the location. Situated by the canal, it really is a great place to visit during these summer months, with a spacious and open plan interior that doesn’t get hot and stuffy like other places around this time. Definitely worth a visit, a fresh air from the hustle and bustle on Broad Street but with more a relaxed atmosphere than some places in Brindley Place; The perfect go between.

To start with I like its location! As excellent option for those who just want a warming up before a night out on Broad Street, Brasshouse has very special deals and popular lagers for less than £2. It’s not as pricey as the bars by the canal and the menu includes delicious spicy bites like chicken wings, excellent for sharing. I got the 30 wings for £ 6.45 and it filled my husband and I up for a while. They have also a lovely beer garden that is definitely more appreciated in a good weather. Definitely a good place to go after work or with a large group of friends too.

The link between the brassy thrills of Broad Street and Brindley Place’s own stretch of bars and food joints, the Brasshouse is well worth a punt — or make that a pint(or three). A key plus point here is just how spacious the place is, ensuring you’ll find a seat whether you’re visiting for food, a few jars or both. The interior is more ‘pub that does food’ than ‘restaurant’ but it’s a comfy stay and the food, every time I’ve been in, is more than serviceable with a generous specials board on display. They do a mean breakfast, too! With so much choice surrounding it, Brasshouse is competing with flashy bars that may appeal more to night birds looking for loud music and pitchers. However, this is a reliable fixture on the Broad Street run and its prices are a lot easier on the pocket, too. The perfect choice for a Saturday afternoon pint.

The Brass House is an excellent language school which is very affordable. It runs a variety of language lessons at intervals of three months for different stages i.e. beginners, intermediates and advanced. Their teaching structure is very well organised and they provide you with all the reading literature to use through out you course. The provide both day and night classes which makes it very accessible for people who normally work full time. Definetely worth the money.
