The churches in Bolton have a tradition of worshipping together on Good Friday; so although not a Catholic, I’ve been to a couple of Good Friday services here over the years. The first thing to say is that it’s a beautiful building. It’s bright, airy and quite modern — and big too, with seating for around 500 I would say. Both times I’ve been there I’ve been struck by what an inspiring place it is to worship. We’ve always received a very warm welcome when we’ve been there too. The people who have greeted us have been friendly and hospitable. Granted, that’s unsurprising on a day when the church hosting hundreds of church-goers from the local area, but you can’t learn to be hospitable overnight! I am sure that if we went to a normal Sunday service we would be welcomed just as warmly. All in all, then, a beautiful and welcoming church: highly recommended.
