I generally visit this Starbucks whenever I am in Bolton town centre and receive fast, efficient and friendly service; this time was no different. On this occasion I just fancied a quick filter coffee and was please to see, that inline with local competition, Starbucks had reduced the price of their tall filter coffee to just £1. That’s £1 for their fine tasting, competition bashing filter coffee. What’s more, you can even get a free refill; I’m not here to insult your intelligence, but that’s 50p per cup! As bland as it may be, it was as good as ever and served with a smile(and room for milk). It’s five stars from me.

I called in Starbucks today while shopping in Bolton. This store is well hidden on the top floor of Bolton’s Market Place Shopping mall, hence can be a little inconvenient to get too. The Market Place isn’t the greatest of shopping centers, with a lot of empty spaces so by the time you have took the time to get here, it probably would have been worthwhile to go to a rival coffee shop, such as Costa who have lots of branches around the city center, Caffe Nero or the smaller chain«Rhode Island Coffee» I did still call into this store, being 2 drinks away from 9 stars, my target to get 12 bonus stars on the Star Dash. This store did seem disappointing, it is a very small space inside with little to no seats, meaning you have to sit outside on basically added space on the shopping center floor, so it isn’t the typical Starbucks surroundings, being infront of a big screen playing terrible music at times, not typical music you’d hear in a Starbucks that’s for sure! The staff here seemed okay, but still they could have been a lot nicer, and shown more friendliness, like they knew what I was saying, and not just stood their like a robot, day-dreaming of finishing her shift. I was disappointed to hear they had run out of Burnt Caramel syrup and drizzle, I asked if they had run out of both, and communication seemed slow, as she constantly had to ask a fellow staff member, after hearing the same words I received the previous day at the Stoke On-Trent branch, I opted for the same drink, but with standard Caramel syrup and drizzle instead. I was still upset to hear that the dishwasher had broke, meaning once again my drink had to be served in a papercup. I was glad they told me, but still I would have preferred a full cup, which I should get, as I was sitting in. My coffee was hot, and it was quite nice, although it was slow service at the till to get it. I still feel this store is quite a poor store, as it probably is not in a great location too, being well-hidden in a shopping mall full of construction, even on the streets of the city center would have been better, as it seems that is where the other coffee shops here. Due to a long, frustrating experience at the tills and the layout of the store, meaning I couldn’t sit physically inside the store but in the«outside» seating on the shopping center mall, I feel this place deserves 2.5 stars, but a 2 in this case is more deserved than a 3, with the long, drawn-out difficult ordering process and where I was forced to sit, being the key factors in it being a 2, rather than 3 or potentially something even higher.

Upper Ground Floor The Market Place Shopping Centre. Small Coffee Shop just off to the side of walkway. I love sitting at the outside tables and chairs, which of course arnt outside at all. It’s all inside the main Centre. Strange thing is I always get the feeling I’m sitting at a café in a Rail Station. Maybe because when you sit looking in one direction there is brick walls and a large wall clock. Good coffee, but Earl Grey Tea yukkkk., and I drink Earl Grey. It’s in a really nice made tea bag and looks great. But so over scented I couldnt drink it. In fact I let the bag strain and dry out and nearly took it home to hang in my wardrobe as a smellie.(thats a true story) But all in alll it’s a Starbucks and you get Starbuck quality. Unless you want a really fresh breath stay of the Earl Grey. Mind you got to be fair it could have been a one off

Located in the newly constructed Market Hall in Bolton town centre. Starbucks do gorgeous coffee but it is definately overpriced, however I do think it is worth it though. The cakes and pastries are delicious but I am doubtful that they are made on the premises. More than likely shipped in from a warehouse, I doubt if starbucks even make their own produce. This Starbucks in Bolton is small and has limited seating, and don’t forget you pay for the priviledge of seating. The staff I found to be very friendly. One of my friend’s coffee was only just warm but that is the only negative experience and they replaced it for her.

One of the things I like about this Starbucks is where it’s situated in the Market Place, it’s tucked into a little corner, but in a big airy space, with lots of tables outside the shop which works a treat for us pushchair users, no trying to squeeze in little shop and trying to park up out of the way. My current favourite Starbucks drink has to be the Dark Cherry Mocha, think black forrest gateaux in a cup!
