R Rice and sons coal merchants

This is the local coal merchant for the Bracknell area, theres not too many of them about now but this is a good one.
I’ve been using Rice and co. for about 3 years now since having a multi fuel burner fitted. I mostly use wood but top in up on particularly cold evenings with a bucket of coal. This provides all my heat, hot water and I can even cook on in if I want but usually just boil a kettle on it!
It’s great to be free of gas!
I live outside the delivery area for Rice and co. so usually ring up with my order and he always has in ready for me to collect within 48 hours. He is always happy to provide advice on which coal is suitable for your needs, they always provide a friendly and efficent service.
It’s a shame so many of our coal pits were closed by the Tories in the 1980’s for political reasons rather than economic as many of them still had ample stocks left. We now import most of our coal from Poland.
There are companies that will deliver to your door (or bunker) but you pay for the service. Rice and co. have always been very competitive.
Coal might not be the most environmentally friendly form of fuel but its far safer and less damaging in the longer term than nuclear and the waste that produces.
