The Sands Café Bar at Saunton has to be one of the best situated cafes in existence. Sitting below the Saunton Sands Hotel on the cliff, the Sands Café Bar is just beside the pathway leading to the beach. The café is upstairs(lift access available), and has a large balcony outside overlooking the bay. The view is literally jaw-dropping, and lots of you can enjoy it as there are plenty of tables outside. The food isn’t quite so exciting, although it is perfectly pleasant. The café offers breakfast, lunches including pasta, salads and various things with chips, plus afternoon teas, cappuccinos and the like. One of my favourite memories of the place is sitting on the balcony working my way through a Bristol blue glass full of strawberries and clotted cream, with the sea glinting and almost the colour of the glass. Be warned, even in the summer, it’s windy here, so tie down anything you want to keep if you sit outside. Clean loos, carparking right alongside(charged by the full or half day, free in the evening), some shops downstairs. You can even hire a beach hut and make a day of it

looks better than it is. located in an ideal postion, its just seems to be lacking the relaxed informal feeling you would expect. staff seem to be in a rush to get your in and out. the food is nothing special, if a little pricey(about £6 upwards for a pannini) just somethings not as good as it promised to be. just go for a coffee and enjoy the view!
