The Three Golden Cups

The Cups is one of my favourite pubs to visit when I visit family back in Bridgend. It’s also a favourite haunt of the Doctor Who cast when they’re filming locally and David Tennant and Billie Piper were spotted here when they were both in the area.
It’s got a surf, beach bar vibe to it in the main pub area, with a more traditional restaurant in a separate area. It’s a favourite of the locals to watch the rugby and there’s a massive TV on the wall to accomodate this. There’s a cheap pool table and dart board as well as an internet jukebox with alot of rare bands on it.
There’s a large outdoor area which is great in the summer and they have large music events here and barbecues and whatnot. In the winter there’s also some decent heaters and a proper smoking shelter aswell.
Drinks prices are about average and there’s a good selection of food. You can eat proper food in the restaurant or go for the cheap and cheerful snack menu with Paninis. Burgers etc.
I don’t tend to go to the Cups very much in the winter months but come the summer it’s a fantastic place to chill out, it’s near the beach and the locals give it a friendly, close knit vibe aswell.

For anyone who wants to go and spend the day down at Southerndown Beach, you cannot help but notice this pub. Situated just at the final turnoff that takes you down that fantastic road to the beach, this is an ideal place to go for a drink or a warming meal after you’ve been wind or water-​swept until your cheek are pink and full of healthy glows.
The Three Golden Cups is frequented by locals and visitors to the area alike. This is a traditional pub which has been refurbished in the last couple of years, while keeping its warm and cosy atmosphere. Their food is tasty and they have good portion sizes.
They also have a good deal of live music events which are always popular, so it’s worth a look at their website to go to/​avoid the live music; depending upon your tastes.
This pub is warm and inviting as any pub can be. But its main appeal has to be the spectacular location. Go and enjoy. I urge you.
