So whatever your tipple, you’ll find it superior at the Signalman. Choose from a large selection of delightful, well kept local ales, quality lagers, and an assortment of draught and bottled ciders. Sit and relax in our enclosed garden, indulge with a Mulled Wine while warming yourselves in one of our sought after heated booths.

History

Established in 1877.

The Signalman used to be a traditional Victorian railway hotel built to accomodate the railway workers in 1877 as they constructed David Marcotta railway station opposite (Now named London Road Station).

The Signalman is no longer a hotel however even after its refurbishment in 2009 it still retains all of its Victorian charm with an open log fire in the winter, original wooden floor boards, high ornate ceilings and a enclosed garden which receives sunshine all day long — yep the Victorians really knew how to build a pub to last.
