I had one hour between my train arriving at Bristol Temple Meads station and before I wanted to leave for the airport. Unilocal wasn’t showing many results for ‘restaurant,’ ‘pub,’ or ‘craft beer’ near the station but I decided to head for one pub in the hope that they’d have good food. I didn’t find it but instead found Marco’s Olive Branch on Victoria Street. This was a lovely find. It was a cute restaurant and I loved the well-used and colourful wine bottle candleholders on each table. The staff said they could make sure my dinner came out quickly, so I was really happy to come in and take refuge from the rain. I went for the set menu which was really good quality and excellent value. I had the salami crostini to start, which was a huge board of salad, salami, olives, and garlic bread. It was delicious. For my main I had penne with roasted vegetables. They were incredibly generous with the grated Parmesan cheese and the dish was simple, classic, and lovely. I also had a large glass of excellent house red and all of that was £9.95. The staff were nice and this was an excellent find only five minutes’ walk from the station and much better quality than anything else closer to the station.
