Specialties

We are a small branch of St Peter’s located on the lovely Cotham Hill, specialising in Menswear with our sister shop just along the road exclusively selling ladies’ clothes.

But we also stock a brilliant selection of Vinyl, Books and Childrenswear and toys; lots of vintage china, collectables and retro items — and there are loads of designer brands to be found around the store — we always try to keep our prices reasonable while still raising as much money as possible for this incredible local cause.

We have a wonderful team of volunteers and pride ourselves on the friendly atmosphere in our little shop! — come and see for yourself.

History

Established in 1989.

The shop has been here for over 20 years and raises funds for St Peters Hospice in Brentry, caring for people with terminal illness and their loved ones.

Cotham Hill is awash with charity shops and while this is no bad thing it does mean the smaller or more mediocre ones can be overlooked. While this branch o St Peters Hospice does have some men’s clothing, I prefer coming in here to browse the large range of books and CDs.
In a bid to stand out from the crowd, this shop always has tables and baskets outside (weather permitting) full of books and occasionally the odd vinyl. Last time I was here there were some old Private Eye magazines going for around £2. There were more books and annual inside the door along with a long wall of books ranging from fairly current novels to some old Mills & Boon.

Fantastic charity shop this. I found my tailcoat here a couple of years back. It was pricey, but I was persuaded by my other half to get it as I’d be looking for a nice tailcoat for about 3 years and here was a good quality preloved one right before me! I loved it! Saying that I have not found anything in here that I like the last couple of years. Thats not to say dozens of other people have not found treasures there. I tend to find more in the way of clothes in the St Peters Hospice just down the road. I will forever be grateful and appreciate this store however for supplying me with my perfect tailcoat! Cheers!

As I understand it this charity shop has always had a relatively young manager (not that there is anything wrong with the sweet old tea drinking lady stereotype) and this is really reflected in their stock and the general feel of the store. They even sell Sega Megadrive games! They’ve got a great selection of old records and some very cool clothes (festival season is almost upon us!). They also have old comics, which is great for collectors (like me) and nerds (like me).
There is a lot of stock in this small shop, they really have packed it in, but I promise if you have a rummage you’ll find something worth the change in your pocket. I bought my Polaroid camera from here, ok so they stopped making films, but it wasn’t expensive and I got some great photos from it before the films I had ran out.
This is not your stereotypical charity shop!

There are loads of St Peter’s Hospice shops in this area, each with a completely different feel. This, I have to say, is my favourite. While there is very little point in heading here is you are after a good selection of women’s clothing, if is much better for men. There are rails full of mens shirts, jumpers and jackets all of which are decent quality and would not look out of place on even the most fashion conscious indie folk fan (if worn in the right way mind). But the coup d’etat for this shop is it’s selection of stuff (for want of a better word). I remember going in and seeing some old mini Polaroid films for £2 a pop. Now, Ive had a mini Polaroid camera for years but could never find the films so I bought them up straight away. They also get things like record players and amps, roller boots and camping stoves. All those rare bits and pieces you could spend ages looking for. Sometimes they have small bits of furniture outside and they always have books and vinyl to flick through. The indie heaven of charity shops.

The second St Peters Hospice on this stretch of road this one caters for both ladies and gents fashion — as opposed to the ladies only St Peters up the road.
This is an absolutely excellent charity shop, a very good benchmark at what they should be. Three bargain bins outside, as if the shop wasn’t one big bin itself, are always filled with excellent deals and grabs. Inside there’s a really good selection of men’s stuff with the largest selection of shirts I’ve ever found in a shop that isn’t specifically a clothes shop. Aside from the sterling clothes selection this is also a fine place to source second hand electronics; CD players, amplifiers and car radios are all available here at, as you’d expect, incredibly low prices.

St Peter’s Hospice Shops raise money for Bristol’s only adult hospice which cares for local people with incurable diseases. It could be because Bristolian’s feel so passionate about this charity and the work that they do that their shops are so positive and a pleasure to visit. It’s obvious too see how much locals care by the quality and abundance of the donations they give.
For those of you who hold the charity dear to your heart — you’re in luck because there’s four (that’s right — FOUR!) St Peter’s shops in Clifton Village. What I like about these chain of shops, is that if you’re looking for something specific, they’ll call around to the other shops to see if they’ve got it in stock! At this particular branch you’ll find the fanciest evening wear and high-end accessories.

A well run little charity shop, they’ve got a good range of men’s and women’s clothing, as well as the usual bits and pieces you usually get at charity shops. I’ve picked up the odd pair of trousers here. It does take a few visits and a bit of patience, but the prices make it worth it. The volunteers are all happy to help.
There’s a bit of music on offer, although you’re probably better off heading to The Beat Goes on down the road if you’re looking for something in particular. With that said, the prices here can’t be beaten. It isn’t huge, so perhaps not worth going out of the way to get to. Maybe combine a trip with a crawl along the other charity shops on Cotham Hill, of which there are a couple. St. Peters Hospice is good for rummaging around and picking up a few odd bargains.
