Stokes Croft Post Office

I know what you’re thinking. What’s up with the new Country Choice price of 75p?
While we are still reeling from this saddening news, I’ll let you in on a little secret.
If you’re lucky, you might still be able to snag tins of that special apple goodness for the cheeky ol’ price of 69p at this well cherished Bristol establishment.
I have also observed a rather curious invention that sits at the back of the shop that seems to be highly popular with people. I think it prints out money or something. I’ve heard people say it’s free anyway, so I can understand the appeal.
Oh. And they also post stuff. Why would you care about that though when you can use email which is faster, more economical and free?
«But you can’t send packages through email.»
Of course you can you lazy waste of space.

The phrase ‘to go postal’ as in to go mad, I have been told, comes from the sense of boredom and frustration found in a post office. This is true of many such places I have visited in my time.
This post office however is different. I actually rather enjoy the colourful queues, trying to guess what people are sending and where. Maybe it’s the general vibe of this exciting and community based side of town, or maybe it’s the vibe created by the friendly shop staff. They try very hard to keep their collections of newspapers, gift cards and alcohol under control. There’s also a wide selection of food on offer here from canned goods to sandwiches and wraps.
A hidden secret about this place is the free cash point at the back, the only cash point for at least fifteen minutes each way. Open till 9pm on weekends, this has to be a winning feature.

It saddens me that in a few years time Post Offices probably won’t exist anymore. Although located in a pretty rough area, the staff are always so polite and patient (especially with me, I find the whole Special Delivery, Recorded Delivery etc very confusing!).
It’s also in a handy location meaning that you don’t have to go all the way into town for your posting needs. It has always been pretty busy here and I would say my average waiting time is roughly 10 minutes.
Apart from the staff, it’s a pretty average post office so not much else to report!

Selling stuff on eBay has become a bit of an addiction for me. Despite the horrendous fees, I just can’t help myself. There’s always something I’ve got lying around the house that I really don’t need anymore, and there’s always something new being released by Apple (iPad, anyone?) that I just have to get my grubby mitts on, so, like a moth to a flame, I keep coming back. This obsession is also serving the Post Office in Stokes Croft pretty well, as it happens. I’m forever going in there to buy boxes, jiffy bags, parcel tape, etc. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help me find the right size box for this weeks particular item. The queues aren’t too bad either, which is a godsend when you can be waiting in-​lie at a post office in the centre for your entire lunch break. I recommend it to all eBayers in the vicinity.
