Chilis Grill & Bar

To the people that complained about it not being like home. I’ve been here for a little over a year now. And what I’ve learned is that no food or restaurant in England is going to be like how it is back home. Not even the shit on a bun McDonalds is the same. Get use to it. I don’t know if it’s the resources here or the people that make it. Either way I’ve yet to try food from a british restaurant that is worth the extra money. Try an Asian restaurant man.

What a disgrace me and my business mates were to eat here. We come all the way from the states (New York and California) and we ate at Chili’s. That is pretty sad. Why, you ask? Well, after a week of English pub food (meat, potatoes, meat, more potatoes, warm beer, mayonnaise, bland veggies), we craved a cheese burger, seasoned fries and a soda with ice in it. I am conflicted as to whether or not to give 2 or 3 stars. The food was slightly below average Chili’s fare, and the service was decent, no better or worse than Chili’s in the US. But, when you are traveling abroad and want a taste of home (including the UK expats that have spent 10+ yrs in the US), sometimes places like Chili’s and the Hard Rock Café are a beacon of light in the dark. These places give that taste of home that make that grueling international business trips that much more bearable.

Thankfully this place has now ceased to trade.

Greasy and expensive themed chain restaurant — not good. They seem to pander to groups and parties who just don’t know any better.

Where do I start? I have been to this restaurant a few times and have, previously, found it OK but after my most recent visit I very much doubt I will be returning! The restaurant was relatively quiet as it was mid week but so many things were wrong — we asked to have starters and main course separatly but the main arrived within minutes of the starter and was then just returned to the hot plate to keep warm, so by the time we were ready for them, they were luke warm even tho the waitress assured us it had only just been cooked. They did make us another one which was better bit still bore little resemblance to the picture and description in the menu — it was meant to be 4 mini burgers in 4 mini buns, but turned out to be 1 burger cut into quarters. When we complained, we were offered a voucher for money off our next meal (£5 off when you spend £25 or more!) which we declined as we knew we would not me returning. Having said all that, the restatant and toilets were clean but the food is overpriced and poor quality. My advice is that there are many better places to eat in Cambridge, so avoid this one

they serve burgers, chicken and ribs etc and have a small bar area, interior has some «American «style decorations
the place is staffed mostly by what appear to be students, they couldn’t be more disinterested if they tried, slow service, missing items, no re fills etc etc
food is nothing more that okay, not up to the usual chilis standard, and the lousy service just makes me go elsewhere

I went there the other day, not very hungry and all I wanted was a snack. But even the starter I ordered could have been classed as a main course. I had 4 little burgers and onion rings. The burgers were far to greasy (even the bread was soaked in oil), but the onion rings were really good. The store manager was really nice and helpful, wish the rest of his staff was the same. They are not unfriendly, they just give you the feeling they don’t really want to be there. The soft drinks are free refill though, which was very good!

Make sure you are hungry when you go here as they do American sized portions! In the summer I have one of their salads and it can take a good hour to eat LOL, the steaks are cooked to perfection and the fajitas need a table to themselves with all the bits for them. They are also child friendly and if you let them know they can cater for quite large parties of people.

Chili’s is great. I’ve been to this branch several times and always have the same thing, the ‘chicken crispers’, which are absolutely delicious. The cocktails are excellent as well
It seems to have a little bit of an identity crisis — is it Mexican? Is it American? Or is it Tex-​Mex? I don’t really mind, because the quality of the food is pretty good, and there’s a lot of it!
The miniature train that choo choos its way around the restaurant is really cute.
The only very negative thing I have to say about the place is that they’ve stopped doing the ‘onion flower’, which was a really cool starter made from a whole onion cut into a waterlily shape and fried like a bit onion ring. They said they had too many orders for them all the time so they’ve stopped doing them! Is that good business practice?!

This restaurant is very convenient for the local shopping arcade ‘The Grafton’ and is probably the most child friendly restaurant in that area.
I have visited the establishment several times with young children (babies to 6 year olds). The staff are very accomodating and unserstanding. The can provide high chairs, warm baby milk/​food and also colouring for older children.
There is a wide choice and although quite expensive the portains are large. Think twice before ordering a starter as you will be stuffed by the end of the meal!
Also expensive but veru tasty are their cocktails. A nice range and all well made.

Mmm. the majority of the times I have been to this restaurant they have been a bit of a disaster Mostly we booked as a large party and usually by the time we got our food it was so late, in fact one time it was my birthday party and my dinner was completely forgotten! And it was past 11 by the time it came so no one was up for eating I have many more stories which are not necessarily all bad but I think for the price of the food the service is appalling and not that different to a brewers fare considering this is supposed to be a taste of mexico I’ve given 2 stars because occasionally the service has been ok and the food good but this is usually at a lunch time when there has been less people about

i like mexican food. whenever we go to the grafton centre — its a shopping centre in cambridge — we need to go there! This is about every 2 weeks time. they have a special kids menu and lunch menu which is always handy for families. they have deals for 4, or 6 people. some people think it is very expensive but if you see the quantity and quality of the food it is good price i think. we always get very full and sometimes we may not be able to finish it. but they offer doggy bags, so that we can take leftovers away with us.

Located just outside the graften centre Chillis grill does great food and has a great atmosphere, the service we had was really good and catered for our group of 15 very well.
The food ranges from itailian and amercian with some signature dishes, very filling! With new dishes constantly on the menu
Overall a great experience and one I’d wish to repeat!

‘Easy’ food Wonderful Margarita’s! … HUGE desserts to ‘share’ (my favourite is the Dime Bar Ice Cream — it’s just delicious, and there’s enough to feed four! … Well maybe!)

I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone that really likes Mexican food, as it is just very poor. The menu is very expensive for what it is and looks like it has all come our of the freezer. Service is okay so that is what eth one star is for.

This mexican dinner style restaurant does the best fajitas around, they come to your table with friendly service and they are SIZZLING!
The menu is varied with mexican themes but also a touch of american diner creeping through.
The service is friendly and there’s always a good atmosphere and it well located next to the grafton centre.
The only flaw is that the décor seems a little dated and there is a little confusion over whether this is really an american diner or a mexican. The prices too can be a little high but the portions are huge so who’s complaining.

Looking at the Chillis restaurant from outside, it did not seem different from any Mexican restaurant in town. However, the décor in Chillis makes it stand out as a one of the trendiest Mexican restaurants in town; colourful squared marble tables, leather chairs all arranged in beautiful rows. The designs that stood out were a train track with a steam train and the memorabilia on the wall.
The restaurant has two floors, the downstairs section had about 30 tables and each table has 4 chairs and its own compartment to give some privacy especially when the restaurant is full. However, some table has 6 – 8 chairs for large number of people. Going up the spiral stairs leads to the upper floor, which is just a large space that can be booked for functions that are catered for by the restaurant.
The restaurant was booked for a party that I went to and we had already chosen our menu before the day. We bought our drinks from the ground floor and made our way upstairs to our tables. The food was brought some 30 minutes after we were sat and it was quickly served to about 25 people. We were all able to eat our food together, which is not often the case, as you often have to drool when others are eating while you wait for your food. Desert was served shortly after the last plate was cleared.
The staffs were very efficient with the service they provided; the plates were cleared as soon you finished your food, even if you asked for a drink of water, it was brought very quickly. The food was tasty and the service good, I have always gone back for a good old fajita meal!!!
