Evans isn’t my first choice for a bike shop as I like to support the local bike shops instead of the chains. However, this particular Evans has such a great location right in the middle of Canary Wharf. They’ve got lots of cycle to work scheme type cyclists there — buying the latest carbon fiber bike on the market. They also have aluminium bikes. Minimal steel frames. They mostly carry road and hybrid bikes to cater to the commuters. The shop gets very busy after 5p when everyone is off work and looking for new bikes/parts/or need repairs done. I never go here for service — they don’t have a big service centre. Plus, it’s very expensive and takes forever to get jobs done. Most local bike shops will turn bike repairs around same day or while you wait. Not possible at this Evans unless it’s something trivial like a puncture. What I do like about this shop is I can go there and borrow some simple tools like allen keys, tire levers, spanners, etc without any issues and they have bike pumps outside to use. Also, they have great hours — they’re open late every day of the work week!

Having booked and paid for an expensive BMC bike, I selected home delivery from Canary Wharf Evans Cycles. After 2 weeks I enquired to customer services and discovered that my bike was sold to another customer after I had paid for it — allegedly during transit from the store to my home. The external feedback I have had is that this is fraudulent(alleged theft) and illegal under the sales of good act 1979, and I am in an embittered escalation process with Evans Cycles currently for resolution. As an aside I have found Evans Cycles customer service to be very poor in handling this, in what is clearly a completely outrageous situation for me — I am pretty sure you cannot take my money and then sell the bike to someone else, whilst hoping that I won’t kick up a fuss!

Really annoying staff. In all likelihood they’d like to sell hip and trendy bikes but are just frustrated to work in a place selling awful bikes at extortionate prices

The staff here are really good. ALways helpful and now that they price match it means that I can get a really good deal. I went in a few weeks ago with no idea about what to look for whenbuying a new bike. They didnt treat me like an idiot. took the time to explain everything, and didnt pressurise me into making a decision. I left with the bike I wanted and am very happy with both the bike and the level of service.

An excellent cycle shop which caters not just for the expected commuter but also the serious rider with cash. I’ve not bought a bike so can’t comment on competence of staff there but if the expertise of the chaps on accessories(clothes, lights etc) whcih I have bought is anything to go by then you would end up with the right bike for you rather than just the most expensive. Convenient location too since on main drag in Canary Wharf and equidistant to Jubilee line and DLR
