Marc Rees is one of Wales’s leading exponents of contemporary performance and installation. His innovative interdisciplinary artworks are known for their flamboyant, humorous and often extreme interpretations of history, culture and personal experience. Marc recently worked with National Theatre Wales for the production For Mountain Sand & Sea in Barmouth, North Wales,(June 25 — July 102010). This was a site responsive project, which, under Rees’ curatorship saw a group of Welsh and international artists develop work in response to the town’s pictorial archive/associated anecdotes via an interactive installation and factual/fictional excursions. His own extensive body of work includes the solo stage works Iddo Ef/Caligula Disco/Gloria Days, the installation/performances The House Project /RevolUn/Shed*light and the BBC film A Very Gladys night. He has a base at Chapter Arts Centre as well as a strong working relationship with Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea.
