Ancora is a Whitworth family staple. Every year, on Christmas Eve, my family and I go to here for a pre Christmas meal. Although we have been let down once or twice, over all the food has always been warming, the service is quick and the staff are truly polite and lovely! I’d say that once or twice out of +20 times isn’t too bad! Tonight we went for an early Christmas Eve dinner(as I won’t be in Oldham for Christmas) and it was yet again delicious. I decided to have the venison but changed the wild berry and port sauce for the diane — the staff accepted this without a blink and both the meat and sauce were cooked to perfection and the plate was well and truly cleared! We also enjoyed some king prawns, garlic pizza bread(get the tomato it’s scrumptious!), and the flat mushrooms with tomato and feta — NOMNOMNOM! A great night had as always — we’ll be back!

I’m still in two minds first time I went to Ancora the food was brilliant as well as service. I went for a second time after a while with my little sister on a Tuesday. I had the antipasto as I always do when I’m in an Italian restaurant. I don’t know what I was given it just felt like I was eating processed meats from the supermarkets. My main was spaghetti carbonara again I wasn’t impressed. The spaghetti seemed overcooked and the sauce was very watery. The heartbreaking part was the pancetta it wasn’t the real deal. Food standard has gone down.

This is my second visit to Ancora when I visit my mum who llives in Oldham. I remember the place as the old«Red Barn» pub however it has been transformed into a wonderful restaurant which has a great ambience and serves excellent food. Returned for my second visit on Thursday 30th September with my hubby and mum and we had wonderful food and wine. The staff are extremely attentive and efficient. Hubby has home made pâté which he said was delicious, then he and mum had lasagne verdi and I had pasta in a creamy tomato sauce with asparagus, aubergine and courgette. It was delicious. We all had garlic bread to share. For dessert Mum has Tiramisu and I had citrus pudding which were both superb. We finished with coffees. We had the Montepulciano house wine with the meal which was excellent. Was very pleasantly surprised at the end when our total for the three of us came to just under £50. Can highly recommend Ancora for excellent quality food, wine and service.

The Ancora Resturant is a newly opened Italian situated on Broadway, Chadderton. The Ancora is beautifully decorated inside and out with warm and rich colours you will feel comftable in these surroundings. The Food is delicious and is well presented, the staff are nice and friendly and service is so I good would always tip 15% of my meal to the waiters. I would suggest the garlic potatoes and bread for starter with the Fillet steak and creamy Itailian Sauce mmm, the mouthwatering food will have you coming back again and again!
