Stayed here as part of a soccer tour and have really enjoyed it. Staff extremely professional, courteous and attentive(by English std. s). Rooms are clean and comfortable. Restaurants serve very good food. If you’re high maintenance, you’re going to find things you don’t like, but that’s how you earn your HM Merit Badge isn’t it? Stayed many hotels in the UK and this one is top fifteen percent for normal people. HMs will have to go back to the Four Seasons or the Ritz Carlton in Newport Beach and regale over how bad it was over an over-priced glass of Chardonnay. Me, I’m happy as a clam here enjoying my stay with shear joy I’m on holiday and not working!

Excellent old hotel wit alot of history attached to it. Customer service was outstanding. It seemed the entire staffed we well schooled in being pleasant. Very nice size rooms but none of the rooms have any nice views only down side. Excellent bar area with relaxing music while you enjoy your drinks. Morning breakfast to die for. well dont die but please do enjoy. When we return to this part of England, will for sure stay here again…

The Queens is a 4* hotel what is situated directly opposite the train station and at the end of city road what is only 5 minutes walk from the city. There are three different types of rooms what are all priced differently. Standard and executive rooms are both in the original part of the Queens and the only difference is the executive rooms have more recently been modernised /updated and are worth paying the bit extra for. Now the twist in the tale is the Kings rooms what are in the Kings quarters, separate to the Queens as next door was a HSBCHQ what was purchased by the Queens and modified to a 5* standard and called the Kings or sometimes you hear called the Kings in the Queens. The Kings rooms are smaller than the Queens but are very modern were the queens are decorated in a royal Queens theme. The Queens reception is also for the Kings. The Kings rooms are the most superior in the hotel and carry the highest price but in general are good value in comparison to other city hotels. Without a shadder of doubt the hotel offers the best breakfast in the City. You are seated in the Bauhaus restaurant and most things are self service. The selection and quality is just the best briefly ranging from fruit, yogurt, cereal, continental and very good cooked breakfast. You also have a menu for food to order and again briefly consists of omelette, salmon scrambled egg, smoked haddock /poached egg, pancakes etc. The quality is the best. Being a city hotel the Queens has a car park charge of £5 but the car parking policy out of the front of the hotel /railway station is no parking from 8am to 6pm except for 30 minutes waiting, this means to me that I can park there from 17.30 to 08.30 free and considering I stay at this hotel just about every week I have never paid yet as these times suit me. The Bauhaus restaurant is now only used for breakfast and special functions. The Kings restaurant is the main evening restaurant and is very exclusive. It always run by well named chefs and is very modern. The bar meals are also very good. The hotel has a very small gym and plenty of different themed relaxing rooms to suit most tastes it also gives you free WiFi. Hotel rates are normally good but like many city hotels the price is set by the season and the only other thing to watch for is Chester races are on. In general; Quality 8⁄10(10⁄10 for Kings) Value 8⁄10 Cleanliness 8⁄10 Service from staff 10⁄10

We booked this hotel last minute, the person we spoke to on the phone was very helpful indeed and asked if we would like to upgrade to the new Kings rooms, we declined this offer and booked the standard room. We arrived at the hotel but unfortunately there were no parking spaces left in the hotel car park but it was a Saturday when we arrived. The receptionist team were very welcoming and polite and offered help with our luggage. We got to our room although wasnt brand new the facilities were good, it was comfortable and a good size. We had dinner in the new Kings restaurant which was absolutely amazing, my partner commented on how fantastic his steak was and he is really fussy. The restaurant was beautiful and the pianist was a nice touch. We had breakfast the following day and although we must have gone down at the time everyone else did the selection was brilliant, the staff at breakfast were very helpful. Check out was quick and efficient and again the reception team very polite and helpful. The Queen Hotel is in a great location and the staff are their best asset. We will definitely be booking again.

This is a large building which has a huge function room, which is available for wedding parties etc. They also hold christmas meals here every year, usually with free drinks! They have pleanty of rooms upstairs which are all very nice and comfortable.

Lay out of this hotel is a little bit higgledy piggledy you get the feeling they have tried to squeeze in as many rooms as possible then fit everything else in around it. The rooms are tiny and cramped very disappointing. Food is good which is a real shame as I was so dissappointed with everything else I wouldn’t return here.

Had a christmas do here. Very good value for money. We paid an inclusive price, which paid for your meal and then all your drinks. The food was very good, but it was a self service, which was a little disappointing, because you pay a fair amount for the night, and would expect a waitress service. Wine was on the table and you just got refills at the bar. Food was delicious and very varied and for dessert, you just went up as often as you wanted. The drinks at the bar where inclusive and not limited to cheap brands of vodka, biccardi and whiskey. There was a very good selection of spirits to choose from. The organisation in house was excellent and nobody was waiting too long for things. There was a quiz half way through with a prize at end, and around 11pm, fish and chips was served if required. The whole night was excellent and would definitely recommend it.
