History
Established in 1975.
Satori Shotokan was established in Sheffield by Sensei Dudley Wheatcroft in 1975 in Norton Church Hall and Killamarsh Parish Hall (now the Sports Centre). In 1987 Chesterfield opened its new Queens Park Sport Centre and Sensei Wheatcroft, who by then had gained his Shodan in the early 80’s with the KUGB, established a club there.
From that time to the present day, all the Senior KUGB Instructors have been regular yearly visitors to the club, Sensei’s Enoeda, (up to his untimely death), Frank Brennan, Terry O’Neill, John Holdsworth, Billy Higgins, Bob Rhodes, Gary Harford and Bob Poynton and various other top Japanese instructors.
Four KUGB Championships are held at Queens Park SC each year, organised by Sensei Wheatcroft, who instructs on three sessions per week at the club and is still as committed to the club and the KUGB and continues to arrange various courses through out the year for club members.

Manager
Satori Shotokan was originally formed in 1975 by Dudley Wheatcroft in Norton Church Hall, Sheffield, followed by the setting up of two more clubs, in Totley Church Hall and Waterthorpe School, Sheffield.
The club’s were known as The Rising Sun Shotokan from 1974 to 1987 and Dudley affiliated the clubs to the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain). Sensei Wheatcroft started his training in Sheffield in the late 60’s with Sensei Danny Connors and Sensei Phil Milner, (International Budo Ass.) reaching the grade of 3rd Dan (Sandan). In 1974 Sensei Wheatcroft joined the KUGB and started to train with Sensei Derek Langham in Nottingham, along with Sensei Eddy De-Roek at Sheffield’s YMCA whilst still instructing at the Rising Sun Shotokan clubs.
