Bridge Bar & Eating House

Just had to try another fish and chips before catching my flight. Its open seating for this pub-​like restaurant in Heathrow Terminal 1.
The fish and chips were fried nicely, with an impressive vertical arrangement. The sides of mashed peas were tasty, and the tartar sauce was also good.
Service was friendly and efficient — the waitress was really sweet.

Avoid at all costs if in a hurry. Arrive four hours before your flight and if you nothing else to do, and you’ll get a decent meal and lousy service. The lamb burger was good though.

When I am bored I eat, so I avoid being bored by doing the usual stuff; having a family, a job, a garden that just wont sort itself out and insists that I do something about it on a regular basis, a bad habit of going for a run most weekends etc…
Now, none of the above stops me eating, but at least it balances out the effect. a bit
however, all the above activity goes right out the window when I am wandering around Heathrow Terminal 1, I do it often and as a result I have little else to do other than eat, so that’s what I do.
The deep fried chicken and a large Sauv Blanc usually hits the spot — it’s what I always order, sometimes it is very very very good; fresh and spicy and tasty. Sometimes it is awful, just awful — it’s a gamble but one I deem worth taking!
…not particularly cheap it has to be said, 19 pounds for the above chicken and glass of vine (about 25 Euro) but like I said, on a good day it’s tremendous!

For a restaurant that has something along the lines of «Ask for your check with your order, we understand you’re in a hurry» written on their menu, their wait staff sure does move slowly.
I had ALMOST enough time to eat before boarding my flight. Figuring this would be a quick experience, I walked in. I sat at a booth for 15 minutes with my hands folded over my menu, and nobody came to take my order.
Finally, this guy shows up. I give him my order and ask for the check with it, as indicated in the menu. The food took a really long time to arrive, and the drink service was absolutely slow.
The fish and chips were okay for London, but not very good overall, and my check didn’t arrive with the food. I had to run to my plane after this experience.
Never again.

Do not eat here. I’ve previously had pleasant enough experience, but today was the absolute worst airport dining experience I’ve had in a while. Latte so tasteless and watery I couldn’t drink it as the warm milk actually somehow turned my stomach over, an omelette that implied it came with tomatoes and mushrooms — which in the US would imply inside — which then when she confirmed I wanted tomatoes and mushrooms in it I was charged for each as they really meant a mushroom and tomato on the side and all omelette fillings were a pound apiece. SLOW service. When lattes were delivered there was a dirty rag on the tray touching my latte dish. When I complained to the waitress about the omelette charge and the latte quality, she basically dismissed my complaint. Pret would have been a better choice… or anywhere in this Heathrow terminal I’m guessing.

I would give this more stars as it typically has (shepherd neame) decent ales on tap.
Then I saw them pour a guinness.
As if it were a caña of lager in Spain.

A lot of the signs say to order at the bar. However, when I went, one of the waiters told me to just pick a table and he would come by to take my order. Confuzzling.
I was craving something hearty so I ordered their baked potatoes with cheese and chives. The potatoes came out first and they were very satisfying; the potatoes were baked to the point where the skin had a slight crunch while the rest of it was soft and tasty. They went very well with the cold sour cream.
Overall, I think that Bridge is a great place to have some good food before a flight. I would really like to try their other menu items if I am ever at this airport again. 3 stars!

I didn’t know airport food could be this good. We were on our way to Paris and needed a bite to eat before our flight and stumbled upon the Bridge Bar and Eating House, located in Heathrow Terminal 4. The servers here were so pleasant and efficient, it was one of the more pleasant dining experiences I have had in London so far. I made a lot of friends here as it was so crowded and there was a long line at the bar. It was fun and interesting to talk to other travelers in such an inviting atmosphere. I got a glass or merlot and a tasty goat cheese and caramelized onion sandwich and my friends all got burgers. Everything was delicious and very flavorful in addition to being affordable. We were enjoying our dinner so much that we almost missed our flight to Paris! But we made it just in time, well fed and happy.

This place wasn’t too bad. I gave it a big knock because of the confusing seating arrangement. There was no hostess to direct you or sign instructing you on how things are ran here. It wasn’t until I took a seat that I noticed a sign on the table stating, «Please order at the bar.» Well I then proceeded to the bar to place my order… but then the surprising question of, «What table # are you sitting at?» came about from the bartender?! UmMmMm… hold on… let me check. Okay… there are no table #‘s anywhere in sight on any of the tables… grrRrRrReat! To make things less complicated I came back to the bar and just pointed to the table. As I pointed, another customer came sat down and recieved prompt service from a waitress… oh how nice! So basically all the signs saying, «Please order at the bar» on every table are useless?! Ok… so the bartender passed my order on to the same waitress who took the other guys’ order and of course his order comes out first… even if he came almost 10 minutes after me… AWESOME!
Anyway, the place actually had some good curry on the menu so I went safe and chose the Chicken Tikka Marsala. Good choice! It looked like a small portion, but it hit the spot! Perfect sauce to chicken ratio. The sauce was not overbearing with spice at all and the overall taste was great! The atmosphere was elegant for a bar and restaurant type deal and the dishes were presented well. The rest of the menu was decent and well priced. The bar experience looked intriguing, but I had to pass. Enough for a 3-​star experience and worthy of a second trip, but sorry… no tip!

My last experience of Steak & Ale pie… Ahhhhhhh
While I am sure it was not the best pie I have ever had, it was the last one I had before returning stateside.
Not the cheapest, but at Heathrow prices, it was reasonable.
They were a little slow on the service, which meant I had to wolf my lunch (plane would not wait), but friendly enough with their excuses… lol
I will be there again for my next ‘Last Supper’ before coming home.

The Bridge Bar and Restaurant is the budget travellers’ best choice at Heathrow. They offer good, sizeable meals for a good price, especially when compared to some of Terminal 1’s more expensive eating options. You get a really good breakfast at Bridge too, and the service I encountered there was quite friendly.
The menu selection is quite eclectic and even if you have the whole family with you you’re bound to find something to tickle all fancies. It’s also set in a quieter part of duty free, so if it’s a beer you want that is some way away from all the shoppers the Bridge Bar and Restaurant is the place you want to be.
