History

Established in 2004.

Tolmunty Blinds was opened, based on 15 years specialist blinds experience.

We realised that a shop premises adds significantly to costs, so we based the service on a van to bring the samples to you — which are far better seen in the place where they are to be used. The service is more personal and lower cost result in better prices.

Going by the significant amount of repeat business and recommedations the service is very much appreciated, and the business is kept busy all year round.

I find the whole subject of shading full of interest. In nature we find that barren terrain is uninviting and harsh. Add trees with foliage and we find shade and beauty that enhances our environment.

So with blinds — a room benefits from light diffusion, privacy, decoration, colour, shape… not just shade.

Each day I enjoy exploring solutions to customers needs. Each as individual as the setting or aspect of the room. Or the preferences or priorities of the resident. Expanded or limited by budget available — the scope is boundless.

I find being involved in the process from initial discussions to providing the final solution is satisfying. I don’t feel I’m at work — just doing what I enjoy, treating each job as if for myself, and getting paid to do it!

Previously I have been involved in room planning for fitted furniture installation — a similar field of discussion and practical arrangements for living.
