History

Established in 2014.

Alchemy Data Analysis was founded by Chartered Statistician Bruce Golding in the spring of 2014 with the aim of bringing a more data driven approach to decision making.

We are taking advantage of the huge change in the availability of data and the price of processing power. This has brought the price of analysis and visualistion down significantly.

However, good analysis still requires skilled handling and presentation of the data. We can provide this expertise.

We have experience of public policy development and the role analysis plays in central government.

We believe that high quality analysis should be available as widely as possible. It is for this reason we choose to use open source software. This also offers our clients flexibility in how much of the process they depend on us for and how much can be carried out in house.

Business Owner

Bruce Golding is the founder and CEO of Alchemy Data Analysis. He is also the firm’s chief analyst. He is a Chartered Statistician with extensive experience of working in government from which he brings knowledge of a vast number of government data sources and statistical methods. He also has experience with using data to influence policy decisions.

Bruce is interested in wide range of social and economic statistics but is particularly familiar with those relating to macro economic measures and societal wellbeing.

Bruce has experience of working in range of policy areas for the Scottish Government. These have included work on regional accounts, rural policy, public service reform and local taxation. During the recent referendum on Scottish independence Bruce worked in strategy and constitution policy.

He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and Statistics in 2008.
