This furniture charity shop is pretty large and considerably well priced. Things are dated but in good condition.

This place is quite frankly unbelievable when it comes to furniture. It has a mass of stock able to cover almost every room in the house and everything is dirt cheap. Take a small sofa and two armchairs in a matching suit for example at only £85 and it’s not even a bad suite — you wouldn’t mind having it in your home. Look elsewhere and you’ll find TVs from £10 to £30 and whilst not flat screens still great size TVs that will do the job. You could honestly furnish a house fully bar bathroom and kitchen for under a grand from here and there are great deals everywhere you look. I don’t need furniture, but I was wanting to buy some just because the offers were so good.

This is another of BHF’s charity shops in Edinburgh but with a twist: this shop only sells furniture and electrical items. The shop floor is huge and open plan and laid out in sections according to room — e.g. a bedroom section including beds, mattresses, wardrobes, chests of drawers etc., a dining room section — with sofas and coffee tables liberally spread throughout the store in attractive ways. There is a large selection of white goods and smaller electrical items such as televisions, videos, DVD players and kitchen gadgets such as food processors. I have visited this shop many times but not yet purchased anything, however the range that they have is excellent and the quality is generally fairly good for secondhand furniture. I believe you can buy furniture and then arrange to either collect it or for it to be delivered at a later date, which is a real help if you’re just popping in on your way to Haymarket station. An excellent place to go if you’re setting up home, renting property, or just fancy a bargain!
