Hrm — yeay for a nice, open gift shop that isn’t too cluttered with stuff, and has some really pretty cards. I didn’t find the staff that friendly, almost felt like it was an inconvenience wandering in. Still, I prefer that to being pounced upon.

There are plenty of gift shops on Broughton Street. Curiouser and Curiouser is the one I keep coming back to the most and seems to be the one I have the most luck in.
Reasons why I like it:
— It’s a nice space. It’s open and bright and it doesn’t feel intimidating. You can take it all in without getting overwhelmed. Some gift shops cram a lot into a small space and make it hard to find the good stuff.
— You can get more interesting birthday/​christmas cards, often by local artists. It’s great for when you want a card that stands out and is a bit more personal. They also have a great selection of prints in all variety of sizes.
–They have nice homeware. Mugs, cups, coasters, wine glasses. And a few little kitchen gadgets up the back. If you or someone you know likes foxes and badgers they have you covered.
–It’s not unusual to wander in during Christmas time and get some mulled wine. The staff are always friendly.
They have a few other bit’s and bobs, books, tea-​towels, jewelry etc. As with all these places you will either find something you want or you won’t. Either way I’ve always thought the stuff was pretty tasteful. Worth a visit on your Christmas shopping trips if you want to escape John Lewis.

This place is full of pretty. Art pieces, prints, cards, décor items, a bit of jewelry — basically a little gallery of loveliness. Plus, they offer framing — win/​win! An absolute little treasure box to happen upon by chance as we were walking along Broughton Street on a recent Edinburgh visit. So happy I found it as we’ll definitely be making it a regular stop.

Ooh! I discovered a new fun crafts & art store in Edinburgh. I don’t visit that often, but when I do I visit the Red Door Gallery, but something new is always welcome. We were in a different shop on the same street, and I needed to find a Birthday card. Whilst waiting, I put a «card» and «craft» search into Unilocal,and found very favourable ratings for Curiouser and Curiouser — and the Unilocalers weren’t wrong.
It’s a nice, spacious store (at least, in comparison to the tight squeeze of RDG) with some interesting items. Some I had seen before, but some was new, and it was a bright and inviting space to browse for a good long while.
I really couldn’t fault the shop — especially with regards to my own shopping list: a birthday card. There were loads of choices, including card (and postcard) versions of some of my favourite prints from elsewhere in the store. If you’re after something different from the usual chain stores, perhaps from local artists or crafters, there is probably something for you here — you pay for it, but then that’s expected — and worth it!

Why am I only just discovering this little gem today?!
A stop off in Edinburgh is always great fun, and a wander along Broughton St is always great. Today the highlight of the wander was coming across this place.
Filled with lots of cute and wonderful things — from books on how to knit zoo animals, greetings cards, ceramics and prints and artwork with price tags that won’t break the bank.
It appears to be a small family business and the staff are pretty relaxed and more than happy to chat; but the dog didn’t seem all that interested in what was going on.
I bought some prints for my living room, a book on print-​making and a ceramic bowl for my coffee table. I could easily have purchased most of this shop.
So if you’re in search of a special card or gift, I can’t recumbent this place any higher!

What a treasure trove of beautiful things!
I love a little wander down Broughton street and a stop off in this Curiouser and Curiouser is a highlight. It is filled with all things pretty, quirky, cute and stylish. It’s the perfect place for gift shopping, although beware– you’ll probably find lots of things you’d like to keep yourself!
They have a lovely range of cards, homewares, books, gifts, jewellery and prints. For lovers of animals (especially foxes) they have all sorts of cute bits’n’bobs and today I was admiring their gorgeous leather fox purses. They also have many Scottish items, like Edinburgh prints.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit to admire all their pretty things!

What pretty wee things! This lovely shop at the bottom of Broughton Street sells an array of things you don’t need, but you can’t live without once you see them.
Cards, notebooks, candles, local Edinburgh designer ditties like stags heads, prints from local artists with scenes of Edinburgh. I went in and immediately picked up about 4 things but put them all down again when I realised it was all impulse buying.
They also have some beautiful jewellery that I kind of want, a lot. But again, impulse…
The perfect place to come for a wee card, gift or even a special something for a special someone.

Gift shops are my Achilles’ heel, and Edinburgh has a wonderful selection of them.
Curiouser and Curiouser is full of lovely artwork and prints, gifts and other things you never knew you needed until you walked in here. They also offer a fantastic bespoke framing service. A few years ago I was looking for a very specific size and design of mirror. I asked for help on Twitter and Curiouser and Curiouser saw this and replied offering their services. I went into the shop, they made a framed mirror exactly as I wanted and of fantastic quality.
If you are ever around Broughton Street area then I definitely recommend you popping in here. And maybe go to Treacle for some food after :)

I am sad that this fab little place has not yet been reviewed! Oh the joy I get each and every time I walk through the doors. Firstly the amount on offer here is brilliant, prints, frames, candles, jewellery and house ware spills off the shelves in a way that makes you want one of everything (and one for all your friends). Curiouser and curiouser have provided me with many a gift that I have struggled to hand over… Solely because the stock is all so pretty it’s hard to depart with it!
They also have a lovely dog… Josh. He is a rescue grey hound if I’m not mistaken and is quite fond of a wee pat… Mind the malting though! I believe it’s a family business… The sisters are both lovely & helpful and seem super happy for you to just have a potter about… There isn’t anything I would change about this store. It’s on my favourite street & that is always a good thing!

My favourite place to pop in when I’m along Broughton Street. Fergus and I are always welcomed with a smile and we always find the perfect card or gift or wee treat for the house. A print from here would be just the thing in our massage studio something to ponder. Keep up the excellent work and the outstanding products wonderful stuff all round!

Wow, what a place! There are similar places in Edinburgh curating handmade items, but it’s the spacious shop and the wonderful choice that sets this one apart. I see items from some of my favourite online Etsy sellers here, and am never short of things I want to buy! The only downside is the pricing — understandable considering the running costs of the shop and the handmade nature of the products, but I am seldom able to spend over £3 on a greetings card.
Staff usually very friendly, although on my most recent visit the lady behind the counter was staring at the computer when I came in and then staring into the middle distance as I left, uninterested in saying hello or goodbye.

Beautiful spacious shop where you can snap up a craft/​collectable/​graphic print/​card/​jewellery or even have a picture or print framed. I loved the vintage tea cups re-​cycled as candles, and the recycled furniture, for example, simple kitchen chairs painted with delicate patterns. Many of the suppliers stocked are from the local area, and scotland-​wide, though not all, and the shop has a very fresh feel to it which I love. Long live independent businesses like this!
