Been in our property over a year now and although we had a few settling in issues at the start any problems we’ve had have been dealt with promptly and when this wasn’t possible due to waiting on quotes/​landlord approval, we were always kept up to date with progress and timescales. Not had any issues with staff to date and my main contact, Peter, couldn’t be more helpful and professional.

Never had I had such a poor experience with a letting agent. My partner and I have send through numerous enquiries regarding properties which have received no response. This isn’t new, this has been happening intermittently for months.
After finding a specific property we really wanted to view, this was booked for a week later. On the morning of, 10 minutes before the viewing, it was cancelled by them. So we booked another time, just after the holidays and requested a courtesy call the day prior if anything changed. Another week went by, and on the day of the booking not even 10 minutes before it was cancelled again. Reason being the tenants didn’t respond to their email So I called again yesterday to re-​book. Was told I’d get a call back that day. But of course, that didn’t happen!
When I called this morning to raise it I was told the property had been let already. I expressed my complete disdain at their practice and was told a senior manager would call me back. So of course, I’ll be sure to hold my breath.
It seems unless you’re willing to forgo the viewing and just agree to sign paperwork they’re not willing to do much. It must be really hard to drive less than a mile for a 5 minute viewing which is, you know, kind of your job.
My vision for the office is a bunch barely functioning adults walking around bumping into each other and smacking their computers when they don’t turn on. The level of incompetency astounds me.
In conclusion, if I could give negative stars I would. I’m completely infuriated and appalled by the staff here who really have no regard for customer service.

So far I can’t rate this place highly enough. I don’t know what they are like if they are your letting agent, but at the minute they have been very helpful when looking for a flat to rent.
They are honest! I phoned up to ask to view a few flats and he advised us to just cross one off our list as it is a bit tired and not what we’re looking for.
When viewing properties, it is possible to do this up until about 6pm (unlike many other letting agents) and you just meet them at their office on Dundas Street and they drive you around to see any properties you want and then they drop you off where you want.
Great service from a lovely bunch of people who go out of their way to help you. Now I just have my fingers crossed that we find a flat with them :)

When I was in my second year, we got our flat through DJ Alexander, we didn’t really know what their reputation was beforehand as we didn’t do any research beforehand on the good and bad letting agents of Edinburgh In fact we simply chose the first flat we went to see.
My experience with DJ Alexander was generally average. It started off pretty bad with them calling me up a week before the lease was to start saying that they had to push back our lease start date a week. I had booked train tickets to Edinburgh, which was now useless seeing as I had nowhere to stay and the fact that they sprung this upon me and my flatmates in such short notice was pretty infuriating at the time. They did refund the train ticket price eventually however. Another issue was that they did not issue all the keys to me and I had to get my own key cut, although pretty cheap, not something I should be having to do.
To their credit however, they were pretty easy to get hold of, you usually get straight through to them when you call them, and they promptly reply when you email them. They were also fair in giving our deposit back, only charging us for a few damages that we did admittedly cause.
