History
Established in 2008.
In 2004, just after John Davidson bought his first 3 bedroom property on Nicolson Street, he spotted a vacant, single story, former ice-cream shop, wedged between two tenements. He eventually bought the building in 2006 and permission was granted to build a 6-story 5-bedroom town house — and there John’s self-build project began.
The completion of the build took 9 months and having project managed in full, all 26 companies involved from special stone suppliers to roofers, John then moved into the property in July 2008 and rented out the other four rooms as an HMO. When John got married he moved out and used the ground floor as the office until 2011 when Southside relocated to it’s current location on Nicolson Street.
Since relocating the office, John has further developed the original property to 8 en-suite bedrooms and it is now one of Southside’s most popular student and festival lets. Southside has grown substantially in the past 5 years and now manages over 1000 properties
