Description

Specialties

The Wee Red Bar is a small bar & club that specialises in live music, clubs, parties, film screenings, talks and events situated in the grounds of Edinburgh College Of Art.

History

Established in 1980.

The Wee Red Bar is a much loved Edinburgh institution in terms of a lively and intimate venue for both up and coming and established bands and Djs.

Operating since the early 1980s and located in the grounds of Edinburgh College of Art via a secret, concealed entrance on Lady Lawson Street.

The venue prides itself in its excellent sound quality and puts on many, live gigs ranging from Reggae to Post-Rock, and every other genre in-between. In many cases The Wee Red Bar has given bands their first ever gig. Recent more known names who have graced the wrb — Dingus Khan, Frightened Rabbit, Euros Childs and Django Django. All gigs run from 7pm till 10pm so plenty of time to catch the last bus home on a school night.

The most popular and well known club night is The Egg, every third Saturday in the month. Playing the finest in Indie, Garage & Soul, Punk & New Wave, Psych and so much more. Other club nights include the gay glitter Disco fever of Hey QT. Come along with an open mind…
