The Write Stuff

Remember when you owned a fax machine?
You know, around the same era that your internet dialed up and the smartest thing about your phone was how incredibly hard the snake game was (damn pixel reptile!).
Now think to yourself, if you needed a fax machine, a contraption that was once tucked in the weird corner or ubiquitously built into every darn inkjet printer — would you have even ONE friend to turn to? If you said yes, go hug this person immediately. And then maybe check to make sure they aren’t a time traveling alien (because you KNOW the Doctor has a fax…)
This is the conundrum I found myself in, when on Monday morning, I required a fax — not an email, or a SMS — a fax-​freaking-​machine to cancel my Canadian car insurance.
FUN.
Thankfully, this little spot, with it’s working fax machine, is but a hop, skip and a jump from my new digs.
But let’s be honest, stocking near irrelevant 90’s technology doesn’t win a spot a five star (though… a three for sure… fax machines are hard to find!). So why did this little haunt take the top rating?
Not only did they have a fax machine onsite, but the price to fax internationally was a very reasonable £3.
They carry a great array of stationary and pens — which meant when the fax kept getting held up (my fault for not understanding international phone codes), I had lots of book geekery to keep me occupied.
And after five minutes, the lady behind the counter offered to take my number down — she’d keep trying the fax until it went through and would call me when it did. If for whatever reason, by the end of the day it DIDN’T go through, I could come and pick up my refund the next day.
Seriously?! Talk about service ninja! «Hey, i’m going to spend the better part of my afternoon fussing with a fax machine, but i’m not going to charge you extra, in fact, if the fussing doesn’t work — i’ll give you your money back no problem!»
… colour me impressed.
So this place is a basic little stationary shop, with printing, copying and faxing onsite. It’s got basic notebooks and fair prices on fancy paper.
But most importantly? They give a damn.

The only reason I went into this shop was due to its slightly humorous name! Yes, it does not take a lot for me to venture into any new shop!
Inside, the shop is pretty small but very well stocked for all your stationary needs! I wasn’t out to buy any pens but I somehow I ended up buying some, but they were not that expensive, actually they were on the cheap side.
The staff were friendly and quite chatty which adds to what is already I think I pretty good stationary shop!
This shop has everything you need to fill up your pencil case and you will then certainly be writing with the write stuff!

I love this shop.
Being a Journalism and English student, my pen consumption is gargantuan. I actually stumbled in here on a shopping trip one day, and decided to pick up some stuff since I was there.
It wasn’t anything special, nothing quirky, nothing kitsch, but the basics of uni can all be found here, for cheaper than average prices. You can’t ask for more than that!

With a quirky name this place sells all the basic stationary you may require and it’s great if you are in the area and are in dire need of a post-​it (you never know).
I was in the area with a friend and his car and we stopped off so he could get some notebooks for his afternoon class. Don’t expect anything too particular but the prices are reasonable and it covers the basics stationary-​wise.

The Write Stuff is a petite but very comprehensive stationary stockist. It sells a good number of Post-It’s, envelopes and small office equipment, but also has a number of pretty notebooks worth perusing. Card shop worthy, they would make nice little gifts for special occasions, or even sketch books!
The shop assistants are very friendly and keen to help but being fairly small in size and self explanatory, you should be fine. With a bit more than what you get in local post offices, the Write Stuff will keep you sorted for emergency stationary situations.
