Top Cellar Off Licence

Top Cellar, on Leith Walk, has a large eye-​catching photograph on the outside of a scantily clad couple, limbs entwined, staring hungrily into each other’s eyes. I think the focal point of this image is supposed to be the glass of wine in their hands, but it actually gives the confusing impression that Top Cellar is less an off licence and more a retailer of soft core porn.
For this reason, it took me a while to venture inside, but eventually, reassured by the display of beer in the window, I did pay the shop a visit, and discovered that it is in reality a fairly normal liquor store. They stock all the standard alcohols that you would expect, mostly wine and beer, the usual brands, and, as far as I could see, no dodgy erotica.
The prices are average to cheap, making it a handy local shop. It’s also frequented by lonely alcoholics who have wandered in from Leith Walk, who clearly have an inbuilt radar for sources of cheap booze.
