Two visits now confirm our opinion, which is one of disappointment. We expected better but our expectations were not met. Service was very frustrating and surprisingly poor. You should not have to ask for descriptions to be repeated twice in order to understand them and the staff should be better informed and not need to ask further for details. Our meals were only just acceptable but not of the standard we expected; yes this is gastropub and not haute cuisine. We had to return one main dish, which was not acceptable but at least it was replaced for another choice. This was both times intended to be a special occasion but each time we left feeling mislead. We will not be returning.

Wonderful meal with my family! The lobster ravioli was amazing. The staff was accommodating to my little ones. And the atmosphere was warm. We will return again!

Excellent fish &a chips, although the menu certainly had a lot of other options. I could eat here for the remainder of my visit and be perfectly happy. Outstanding location as well; how any places can you grab a pint and a meal then go for a walk and see a castle.

I’m going to keep this one short… I was trying to come up with an interesting back-story, maybe throw in a laugh or two about the staff all bedecked in designer clothes and looking like they belonged in a boy band, but sod it, it’s not coming to me and it is the absolute least of the story. The story is, quite simply, the food. It was excellent, it blew me away, it will be repeated. I had the twice cooked pork belly. For this alone I will leave my wife and marry the place… it was sublime, it was roast pork belly like it appears in movies and Ads but oh so very rarely in real life. The staff were likewise brilliant and faultless, even when faced with a group booking of 16 people who at the last min revealed that they needed separate bills(as an ex-waiter I can tell you this is a nightmare), it was handled with aplomb. 5 stars, richly deserved.

I went to this pub after a bike ride around Great Windsor Park. Its got a nice country pub feel, spacious, with a wonderful beer garden section in the front with space for your horses or bicycles I was a little underwhelmed though don’t except to get Sunday roast(£14 ish) in the beer garden on that nice sunny afternoon. I’m not sure why, it’s just lunch after all, but you can’t get a roast unless you are in the restaurant section indoors(which you aren’t supposed to go in if you have cycle shoes on). I might add that on our way out, we noticed a group of people who presumably were in the restaurant when they ordered but moved(with the help of staff) to sit outside and were then served Sunday roasts perhaps there is a way around this nonsense rule. £30 for 2 average sandwiches, one portion of chips and two shandys not really value for money. I was unimpressed with my chicken and sundried tomato ciabatta was about £8. There was another ingredient mentioned on the menu, but I didn’t think it was mayo. Even if it was for £8 I’d expect something more than you’d get from the kind of sandwich filling you get in your greasy spoon caff pieces of chicken swimming in a creamy mayo. It did come on a bed of salad which was tasty.

I really do like this pub. Its in a great semi rural location and serves real ale, my favourite at this pub is Tea. This pub is located close to one of the entrances to Windsor Great park which is a great place to walk, cycle or horse ride in and most of it is open to the public all year round. After a stroll round the park during the autumn/winter months what better way to finish the day than to pop into the Fox and Hounds and warm yourself by one of the real open fires with a pint of Tea? The food here is excellent to. They have a restaurant or you can eat in one of the bars which I prefer. There is also an outside seating area/beer garden to the front which has been done up this year. You will often see horses tethered up outside as well. Not too far from the hussle and bussle of town life and well worth a visit.
