Although this shop is listed here under the Toy Shops category, it isn’t what I would really describe as a toy shop. It does sell some soft toys but in the main it stocks quirky bits and pieces, novelty items and gifts. It has a range of hen night type joke items which aren’t suitable for children at all, for example. It also has quite a large selection of greeting cards, mostly comedy ones.
I used to think this shop was great in the 1980s — it was a place to find unusual gifts. It all looks really dated and tacky now — so either I’ve become incredibly sophisticated in my old age, or Clayhanger really haven’t kept up with retails trends — I suspect the latter.

This is a funky little shop which is located on Gandy Street off of Exeter High Street. They sell many gift items as well as novelty gifts and a range of handcrafted and unique cards. The stock changes fairly reguarly and everytime i visit they always seem to have a range of things that i haven’t seen before. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and this is a great shop to pick up a special gift for a loved one.

one of my favourite shops in town, this is where i come when i need a birthday gift for a friend, gandy street is a small old fashioned street located away from the high street and the crowds.
clayhanger stock some great novelty gifts and greetings cards. they also have an ‘adult’ range idwal for hen and stag parties or just simply for the more ‘open minded’ of your friends
as its a small ‘local’ shop, the customer service is much more friendly than high street shops, and the staff are always very helpful

Clayhanger is a great shop if you are looking for a slightly off-beat present, the shop stocks everything from Lava Lamps to Novelty Cufflinks.
There is also a range of ‘adult’ products for those planning hen or stag nights.
Even if you don’t end up buying anything from Clayhanger it’s worth a visit as there is always something in there to make you chuckle.
