Sams on the beach in Polkerris, is a place out of this world, set in the normally quiet rurality between Fowey and Par, of an evening you can experience absolutely stunning sunsets. You are situated right on the beach, you can literally just walk from the outside seating area into the sea when the tide is in. A really charming, romantic place for a night out with your loved one. Food is top notch, and you can nip next door before or after to the Rashleigh Inn for a swift one or two, and listen to the local pianist of an evening. Not to be missed

On holiday last week I visited this restaurant with my family. No reservations but getting a table was no problem. Great food, lobster was really well sized, perfect service, quirky and fun. I can’t comment on the salad garnish or chips as I don’t eat these unless I’m still hungry which is not going to happen after the puds. recommend!

While I can appreciate scrothers experience here might have occurred — it is VERY busy, I can only concur with the 3 other reviewers. Mmmm 3 against 1? Worth a try at least. We visited Fowey for the first time last week and loved it! Sams was our restaurant of choice because they had sold out of stuff! For me that is always a good sign — usually means it’s fresh! We had Bouillabaise — a first for my husband. It was wonderful! Loads of it, fat juicy scallops, prawns and chunks of ‘fish’. The service was friendly — well done Ed!- and the number of people around us talking in complimentary terms was, well, everyone! Oh! Nearly forgot to mention the Bread and Butter pudding which Ed SAYS he made himself that morning! Who cares — it was yummy and we left, very full, wishing we could go back another day, and ready for the VERY steep climb back to the car park!

What a fab little restaurant! We’ve been visiting Cornwall for ages, and usually have ended up in the Fowey area as per usual, and everytime have visited the town simply to eat in Sam’s. On offer is a fabulous range of locally caught seafood, American tex-mex, Italian and American diner style food. The huge range really does suit even the most disconcerting guest, from children to adults. The premises is filled with a massive range of memorabilia and the staff are really friendly. Recommended!

This is a must visit place, great music, good food plenty of atmosphere. You can’t book, and can wait for 45 minutes for a table, but you can order and drink while you wait… even talk to others in the queue. Order quickly and the time flies, it’s mostly fish, and big portions .good value. Poplar with all age groups and busy out of season. Fish Feast, Boullabaise(for 2) and deep fried red mullet are very popular. 2009UPDATE, as good as ever, Sam’s are extending upstairs from the end of March, so hopefully the waiting times may reduce.
