August Elite Event @ Lebowskis

I have been pestering the boy to go to Lebowskis with me for ages now so thankyou firstly for convincing him that its worth the walk — I needed no convincing — a White Russian Menu? Yes please!
I was tempted to do a Lebowski quote-​addled review but a) Im lazy and b) I couldnt quite figure out to incorporate ‘peed on my rug’ so a review quote free but full of praise.
The food was gorgeous and even impressed my fish-​phobic friend, who tried all three fish courses, and liked them! Less so the mussels but more for me so I wasnt too fussed about that. It was all really fresh and all the flavours complemented each other perfectly, you could really tell they cared about the quality of the overall dish.
Speaking of complementing, each beer went perfectly and I got to try a few new beers to add to my beer choice when out and about. Especially surprising was the Doom Bar ale. I was terribly dubious about this one, the word ‘ale’ conjures all sorts of bad images in my head of old men, flat caps, whippets and sediment. Yuck yuck and yuck. I also never really find that beer goes with dessert, thats when the cocktail menu comes out, or a amaretto coffee is ordered. I have never been more happy to be proven wrong, it was sweet and just light enough for me to drink, with a real caramel taste.
Add two for one white russians on top and you have yourself a darn fine evening!

UYE Lebowski quiz night anyone?

An evening of many firsts for me! After getting my first tattoo i went to my first Unilocal event and tried alot of food and drink for the first time too! I tried Coley fish for the first time which was yummy :) i don’t normally speak with my mouth full but couldn’t help blurting out ”oh my god that’s amazing!!” i do apologise to Dave S as i believe he may have been in the firing line on that one! I’m not a beer drinker either, but was pleasantly surprised by what was on offer. Perhaps it was how well the girls from Molson Coors had matched the beers with the food, or just the curiosity to try some of these beers, especially the pink grapefruit one! it was very pretty and i could actually drink a pint of that, and will certainly be going back for one very soon. Another first were the muscles, and sticky toffee pudding with dates in, i normally only go for basic sticky toffee pudding with plenty custard but this actually blew me away! (i even managed to sneak a second piece, shh!!) And lets not forget the service from the staff here, so welcoming and eager to discuss the courses and drinks. This was an all round awesome evening, met some really nice people and ate and drank from an amazing new menu. Big thanks to Chris for inviting me along :) certainly was a nice change to a typically boring Tuesday night!

I hate to sound like a broken record, but.
Recent months have seen a series of excellent Unilocal reviews where I find myself saying aloud ‘the next event will need to be REALLY good to compare to this one’ EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I was particularly pumped for this one because it’s so close to my flat (it’s a genuine reason, oi!) and because I love Lebowskis.
One of the most well put together evenings with a constant flow of well matched drinks and food with a great vibe overall and engaging conversation with the owners.
Met some super nice peeps here who I look forward to seeing again and can also say I drank the most beer I’ve ever drank (2 beers, I don’t drink beer.) which I enjoyed!
Hard to find a fault here with great music and epic merchandise to boot.
A memorable evening for all the right reasons.

Lagers and munchies then hangover, oh my!
Having attempted to bring two of my friends along to Unilocal events previously, I finally managed to drag them along to this one and it was success enough to turn them both Unilocal converts!
I’ve not been to Lebowski’s before but it got the thumbs up from me — you’ve gotta love a bar with booths, a wide selection of Havana and owners quite happy to lift grown men onto their shoulders. Loved trying out the selection of beers and the food was brilliant, I enjoyed second helpings of fish and chip and sticky toffee pudding (sneaky!).
All brilliant, except for Wednesday’s hangover!

Only two weeks ago, I asked Chris if we could have possibly a beer at these events. I was not complaining but I really prefer beer to wine.
So what does Chris organise — a Beer and Food evening!
This guy must love me — and after this evening I love Chris.
I know he had help from the folks at Lebowskis and Molson Coors, but without Chris all of the attendees would have had a normal boring Tuesday.
I was worried for Chris after Chocolate emporium. How could he top the last two events? Variety acts in a historical Glasgow Treasure or an opportunity for Unilocalers to sample and create their own chocolate. These two events set a pretty high bar.
Chris had to get a «co-​carry» from a tall entrepreneur to raise that bar but he definitely pulled it off.
I would have to say that this evening is possibly the greatest Glasgow Elite Event ever. Five courses of food and accompanied by a corresponding beer. The top of the food was definitely the fish and chips with Blue Moon batter and a dipping sauce. The mussels and the sticky toffee were definitely brilliant but the fish was cooked to perfection and the caramelisation on the outside of the chips was exactly how I like them.
I am seriously going to try this with a Weissbeer batter and serving them with chip forks on newspaper at a future dinner party. Absolutely a stunner
Turnout was massive, loads of new folks and a fantastic chance to meet a number of folks I have only chatted to through Unilocal compliments.

The bar has been set to a new level. Chris now needs stilts.

My first Unilocal event. Thumbs up to Unilocal,the brewing Co? and of course Lebowskis for putting this on. The food and beer was really good, I even tried Mussels for the first time! The fish and chips were to die for, I dont often have fish and chips as I find it tastesless but the Coley (sustainable fish) fish was very very nice with lovely chips with skin left on (best bit!) and excellent Tartare sauce.
I’ve meant to check this place out for ages now, wasn’t disappointed. Seems like a cool wee place. I will definately be back for a full plate of fish and chips and a few beers… and leave a review here.
@Devin, it was beer not champagne! lol. Sure it had a grapefruit taste? The name started with a C I’m sure.

What a lovely evening! The folks at Lebowski’s pulled out all the stops, serving an impressive assortment of food, each with a generous drink pairing. On offer tonight were two types of bruschetta, fish and chips, a lettuce wrap with aubergine… and mussels (I love shellfish!!). There was some kind of lovely champagne and red currant (??) concoction which I unfortunately missed out on, followed by several great beers: Blue Moon, Coors Light, Singha… and probably more, but I couldn’t keep track at this point! We had to leave before the pudding and that was a great shame, but I’m sure the rest of the night went as smoothly as it started.
It was so nice to meet some fellow Unilocalers, as this was my first event. Hope to see you all again at some point in the future!

Chris D has done it yet again! What an amazing night of goodies, tasty bits, drinks-​a-​plenty and banter.
I was looking forward to this night as I had never been to Lebowskis but heard so much. No Dude was present but a whole page on the menu dedicated to all different flavours of White Russians made up for it. All is forgiven!
The place soon filled up and specially made drink of beer, berries and champagne where on offer as we mingled. The owners made the effort to come round to speak to us and explained what the plan was for the night ahead. Instead of matching wine to your meal it was matching beers to your meal. I was hoping it was matching White Russians to your meal but ye cannae hiv it all.
We were given a fantastic selection of tasters from bruschetta, salmon pâté, aubergine and tomato and the most tasty Blue Moon beer batter coley fish and chip, not chips just a huge big chip with their homemade tartare sauce. It was absolutely delicious that I had to have a few samples of course. Yum!
There was also mussels but as my friend is allergic we skipped that course but made up with sticky toffee pudding. Unfortunately I’m not a beer drinker but the food more than made up for it.
Chris D did a great speech and of course on the shoulders of the owner. I love his style! This was followed by a wee speech by the 2 owners. I certainly will be popping back in again soon as the food was really good including certain flavours I wouldn’t normally go for.
Chris D also made my night by presenting me with my new super cool Unilocal Elite watch. It had to be mentioned as it is soooo cool. Thanks Chris and thanks again for a fantastic night.
