Dear Green Café – 10 Week Project

I really hope Dear Green has more of these projects/​pop ups because it was amazing to be able to visit their HQ and have a cuppa!
Gian and I went by on the last day of their 10 week project, and luckily it was also coinciding with the Great Scottish Run! So we had front row view of the runners running for charity, while having a panini and some yum coffee!
I ordered a cappuccino and and prosciutto panini served with pretzels and gerkins (prepared by Gesso). Was hoping to nab some cakes by bakery47 but alas, I was too late! There were barely any left!
Anyway it was a simple afternoon and I enjoyed it very much being at the pop up café! Would’ve loved to see what the actual HQ looks like but we’ll have to wait and see if dear green will open that up to the public in the future :)

I’m no coffee connoisseur (I limit myself to one per month) so I actually didn’t drink any coffee yesterday at Dear Green’s 10 Week Café in the Briggait. Oops.
It’s a beautiful space — it’s Dear Green’s HQ where they do training/​tasting sessions as well as run the business from the upper mezzanine level (which is closed to the public for obvious reasons!). It’s not normally an open space but they’ve opened it for the summer which is brilliant to see. It was also the location for Glasgow’s Secret Coffee Shop in April, if you’re still wondering where that was!
If you’re having trouble finding it, head into the Briggait and then head to the back wall — through the doors there is the café. Or you can enter from Clyde Street. It’s a bright, airy space with seating so you can enjoy your coffee and gaze over the Clyde. As I wasn’t drinking coffee yesterday, I had a pot of tea (beautifully presented) as well as a Juice Warrior juice. There’s also cakes from various local bakeries (Bakery47, Big Bear, The Tea Jenny) and the savoury lunch offerings which change daily come from Glasgow cafes like Where the Monkey Sleeps and the brand new Dandelion.
I think because the café is so collaborative, it gives it an extra special chilled out, welcoming vibe. I certainly loved the time I spent there yesterday afternoon and already plan to head back as often as I can while it’s open (til 4 October). Prices are reasonable, the staff are incredibly friendly and it’s pretty much the perfect café space. My only gripe is that I don’t think there’s a public loo to use so keep that in mind (although you could use that as an excuse to visit the newly re-​opened Clutha Bar for a wee drink).

I was only in here briefly for a take away coffee last Saturday but it is a really cool space. I never realised it was even here and then I found out it’s not actually a permanent thing which makes me sad… I hope this changes as it’s a really lovely wee café just off-​centre of town.
Needless to say my coffee was excellent ~ I had a soya Flat White and it was divine. These folks know their shiz. Quality coffee beans, roasted their way & made into a top notch brew.
If you’re in town check them out; even if it’s just for a cup of Joe to go. The cakes/​bakes looked very tasty too.

I’ve know Lisa for sometime now and also help out in some of her fantastic happenings in Glasgow. And this is another fantastic happening. What a beautiful set up so bright and airy but in true Lisa style it’s pretty perfect much like her coffee roasting and presentation.
Velodrome table tops, neon coffee sign and bright and shiny pour over stands, coffee sack coverings on chairs and old excavated dairy bottles holding flowers with a foseball table that sits pride of place on one side of the room whilst on the other we have a beautiful cold dripper. I could tell you every detail but GO and check it out yourself you will not be disappointed.
