Debenhams

This is a pretty big branch of Debenhams that I always seem to get lost in. I’m not sure where all the lifts, escalators and stairs are but I’m sure they move every time I go in. I also think that there are at least two entrances and exits but there could easily be many more hidden away.
Across the floors they have cosmetics and gifts, men and women’s fashion and homewear, as well as a café, services for weddings, bra fittings and alterations, a travel money centre, a Clarins skin spa and, most importantly to me, a personal shopper service.
This is why I go to Debenhams. I’m not good at shopping but they have a free personal shopping service. The personal shoppers aren’t on comission, so there’s no pressure to buy. You just tell them what you’re shopping for (for example a general wardrobe update or a special occasion), and your sizes and colour preferences. They make you a cup of coffee and then wander out into the store to find things for you to try. You try them in your own private changing room and, if you decide you do want to buy something at the end of your session then you skip the queue when you go to pay for it.
Sure, the rest is good too (except when you get lost) but this service alone makes Debenhams worth a visit for me.

The breakfast as priced ok, and it filled the gap. £6.25 is not too much. My only moan is this, and coming from myself who is a chef.
Their eggs. Was told must always be turned and cooked both sides. Resulting in no juicy eggs. I was told this was for safety. While in Scotland the minimum hot holding temperature is 63 degrees.
I can assure you that the haggis I got was way below 63, and considering what haggis is made from, it makes that a high risk food too.
So my advice to the manager who made these rules. Relax. Give us juicy eggs. As after all when you put eggs under the hot lamp they continue cooking, so if you over cook them, then the egg will be dead and dry.

This is a shop off the high street that always has inviting fashion windows making it very easy to walk in to check out the sales.
I’ve been in this shop before and have always had amazing service. I was sent here from a competitor shop when searching for a dress. The last big purchase I made in fact, was for a black tie dress for new years eve and most recently my boyfriend and I were in search of some things for our flat. We didn’t find anything this trip, but we’ll be back because we’re still in search of things. I love the styles this shop carries, and the various brands we are able to find. Its high end stuff but at reasonable prices.
They have loads of great sales all the time and I love the over all feel of this shop. It has a magical feel, like its always the holidays.
This place is laid out well with signs everywhere directing you where you’re needing to go. They also have a travel agent area and a place where you can exchange money. My boyfriend had some leftover Euros from holiday that he wanted to switch back in to Pounds. Simple.
Great department store with great things.

There are acres of this store that I’ve never seen. And never will.
Like most other department stores, the greens are is crushed into one toty wee corner. With a little outpost in the a aftershave department.
Some of the other reviews talk about being able to wander around here for hours, due to it being spread over ⁵⁄₆ floors — the guys but can be casually perused within 10mins. Disappointing.
Saying that, I’m a total ho for ties, and Debenhams has an awesome selection. And they do great sales.

I’m not much of a department store shopper — I tend to know what I want when I’m shopping, and browsing a huge store isn’t really my style — all that walking and trying to navigate stress me out more than I’d like to admit.
That being said, I actually really enjoyed having a relaxed wander around Debenhams this week. They were having an exclusive shopping night on Monday so the store was a lot quieter than it would normally be (and they were dishing out the complimentary fizz which is always nice).
I think this store must have been done up a bit since last time I visited as it was a lot brighter and more slick than I remember. The beauty and perfume areas are particularly lovely.
Some areas of the store seemed understocked or had less of a range than I’d expect — in children’s toys there wasn’t loads for kids under 1, and there was only one shelf of thick winter tights. On the other hand, there was a massive area for Baker by Ted Baker (kids clothing range) and loads of sheer tights. I’m not quite sure for the reasons behind these decisions, but just keep in mind that you might not be able to find everything you want here.
Staff were happy and friendly, even while being subjected to hours of Christmas music. We did nearly get overcharged in one transaction but that’s because their sale didn’t technically start until the next day, and the sales assistant happily fixed it up without any fuss.
Tip: With the 5p bag charge it might be worthwhile asking for their largest bag if you’re buying a few items, rather than getting multiple smaller bags. Or bring your own!

Oh dear god, this shouldn’t even get a star rating at all! All those who have seen trainspotting will remember the mankiest toilet in Scotland. Well it’s actually on the 3^rd floor in debenhams in Glasgow.
These toilets always used to be spotless. There are a good few cubicles to chose from but I’d honestly say that only about 3 or 4 were actually clean enough to use.
Used tissues littered the floor, toilets blocked, no toilet paper and utterly utterly filthy! (dry boak on the first 3 cubicles I looked in to).
I was with 3 other ladies so we just waited and used the one cubicle between us.
Please please please, someone, anyone from debenhams, sort this out!!!
No one wants to wander about this lovely store, look a lovely make up, try out new perfume samples maybe even shop for some lovely clothes then have a panic attack if they feel the need to use the loo.
Disgusting!!!

Marvellous range of clothing, accessories and homeware to suit all tastes and all budgets

Debenhams is one of those places where you should be like «ooo», «ahh», «this is reassuring» and «I know him!», but too often it’s «bah», «grr», «hmph» and «awh nawh, it’s him!». I went in to the Argyle Street/​St Enoch centre (like, how many doors do you want? talk about confusing) branch recently to look for a very specific tie; not only was I unable to find any ties but when I did find what I thought was a customer service representative they barked at me! It was at that point I realised I was in pets at home and left promptly.

I think this store is really lovely and I really like the layout. I don’t think the service was quite as good as John Lewis though. I think the customer service can be a bit gruff actually. The kids clothing section looks amazing and I love that they have a Benefit brow bar on the premises.
I purchased some deeply discounted sheets here and they are amazing. I don’t think I could beat 70% off.

The ladies at Debenhams have literally saved my life. I’m basing this review solely on the lingerie department, but they have. After years of going to Marks and Spencer for bra fittings, I got sick and tired of buying bras that don’t really fit all that well, so I popped into Debenhams to get a fitting.
What I was told has changed my life pretty much. I have been wearing completely the wrong bra size for years. The back was too big and the cup was too small, so thanks to Anne who finally found me a bra that fits me.
Of course now, the only place I can go for bras is Debenhams because I have such a bizarre size.
But they do cater brilliantly for ladies with a larger bust and it makes for a great alternative to Bravissimo where they are known to be rather sales driven and don’t really care if your bra doesn’t fit.
Similarly it pointed out that Marks and Spencer do not train their fitting staff properly and it’s no wonder so many women are wearing the wrong bra size.
In addition, Debenhams is a wonderful place to wonder around. I got my S6 leavers dance dress in here, as well as a dress for a wedding. It’s a great one-​stop shop for EVERYTHING.

I love Debenhams.
I’m not the most fashionable dude walking the streets, but I am a big fan of John Rocha, Red Herring, Jasper Conran and Thomas Nash, all of which have a good selection in the mens department in here.
They do have a lot of other stuff as well, but I consider it a clothes store first and foremost as opposed to John Lewis which has alot of homeware and stationary.
It can be impossible to find the toilets in here and it’s just as easy to get lost completely.
When there is a sale on in Debenhams it’s bedlam.

I’m not a big fan of shopping so department stores that are based on early labyrinth designs are a complete no-​no for me.
An experienced shopper might find this to be a haven of quality goods found under one roof but, I guess it’s all a bit confusing.
In saying that, it’s a brilliant place to come at Christmas for mum & dad gifts if you can somehow avoid the queues!

I only ever seem to visit Debenhams around Christmas time. It’s a one stop shop, with floors and floors of shopping, before dropping at the café situated on the first floor. This modest looking little café is actually quite impressive, serving up generous slices of cake and jam packed paninis, along with the usual offerings of soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee. What I found most odd was that I wasn’t given a table number, but rather a big plastic square thing that buzzed when my order was ready — like a pager! Very fancy indeed.
Now, on to the shopping. This is somewhere to make a day of it. Don’t make the mistake of making it your last stop, as you’ll never make it all the way through. Set out early, head here first and if you’re Christmas shopping you’re sure to find something for everyone on the many floors of fun, fashion and fabulousness.

Given that it’s only a few weeks until Christmas, most places are upping their prices rather than dropping them which is why I am so pleased with Debenhams this week — for three days they have up to 25% off in every department. Considering they stock so many of the high street stores as well as other more unusual boutiques, this is pretty good.
It actually made me wish I had more girlies to buy for. I’m going back tomorrow to pick up some treats… for myself…

I only ever really visit Debenhams, or other department stores for that matter, around this time of year. While some people hate the whole Christmas shopping thing, I actually find it quite good fun, and huge shops like this that sell everything under the sun are the most fun of all.
Debenhams is a department store much in the same vein as Frasers amd John Lewis. It doesn’t feel quite as posh as the other two but is still hardly cheap. It really comes into it’s own about Christmas time as the toy section really goes to town. They also have a massive department selling the tat that’s specifically bought as gifts, such as an alarm clock shaped like a football for your annoying brother in-​law, or some bath salts for your gran that she won’t use but will at least keep you on track for the inheritance.
The above department is an absolute lifesaver at this time of year, providing good quality gifts that require little or no imagination on your part. One word of warning though, it can be very difficult to find your way back onto the street from in here, as there seems to be very few exit signs. Be prepared for a long and baffling trawl.

I do like Debanhams per se, but this store doesn’t really do it for me. It always feels overcrowed, the building feels like it should be bigger and on more than a couple of occasions I’ve been unable to ask a sales assistant for advice/​directions/​a pair of shoes because they’ve been too busy gossiping.
I did however see an advert today for Debanams advertising 25% of absolutely everything for a limited number of days. Yep– that’ll entice me back.

This review is based solely on the Lingerie Department. Since I discovered it a couple months ago, it has become my holy grail of bras. Yessir. My bra size is freakin hard to find, but in here they have a whole area dedicated to dd and above bras. And yes, with small back sizes. Yaaaay! They have my size. And in more than one style. Millions of styles in fact.
Yes, they are pretty expensive, but what can you do? They have lovely brands like Freya, Panache and Ultimo. They also do fittings, which I havent had. (I was fitted in La Senza — go now and do it, ladies!) They have underwear for every occasion here so you can get everything you need under one roof. Amazing.

Really annoying to get around, too many escalators and you end up walking most of the shop to get anywhere.
Saying that they do have a good choice of shops especially in the fashion section — includes Faith, Oasis, Topshop and Warehouse. They have a great underwear section with a good range for all sizes and occasions. If you are looking for something for a special occasion you can find loads of really nice dresses upstairs. They have toys and homeware too.

The shop is an absolute pain in the backside to get round, especially if when pushing a small person in a buggy. You need to go up stairs, or in a dodgy wee lift from Argyle Street to get to the ground floor of the shop.
Then after walking round the ground floor it takes forever for the elevator to arrive to take you to the upper levels, so long last time I almost gave up except it had already taken me so long to get this far!
The only part of the shop I go in for is the kitchen section, similar to other department stores, the usual flashy brands, however they often have some decent discounts.

Although the shop is pretty small and doesn’t have the best layout if you are persistent then you will be able to find what you are looking for.
As a girl who loves lingerie, and finds it difficult to find in her size, this shop as a massive selection and it is a reasonably priced and defo worth a visit whatever your size.
