I love this place!!! Whenever I’m in town to see my fiancée we always come here at least once. It is a hidden little gem in Glasgow. The owners Dave and Sandy make you feel at home with great home cooked comfort foods. I personally love getting a nice ham and cheese toastie with tomato soup. Followed by a great cappuccino and one of the home made dessert of the day. if your looking for a nice lunch spot where you can forget the day for a while then this is the place.

Baked potato, with soft butter dripping down the side of the golden roasted skin, topped off with crisp and creamy coleslaw. This isn’t any food, it’s Ecco 808 il Café! Ha, a bit far, but the baked potatoes are great and they do them properly, as in they actually bake them! Although I like a good moist microwaved potato, when you have good toppings, it is a savoury wonder to eat a crumbly potato that has clearly just came out the oven. I would go here just for the baked potato. But if you can handle a little adventure why don’t you try something Italian in this Italian place! or even just a sandwich.

Ecco 808 il Café has been around for just under a decade now and it’s not hard to see why. The little family run, Italian bistro /café sits right at the edge of Great Western Road, near Jordanhill. There’s friendly banter, humble surroundings and, most importantly, truly magnificent grub. Examples of Ecco’s gorgeous, hearty and utterly tasty cuisine comes in the shape of various Frittata’s, Lasagne’s, Tuna Fagioli and even the humble baked potatoe! If you’re after a light bite or snack, however, you can also find a range of sandwiches made with Italian bread — utterly divine, and what better way to feed the hunger hole! For those passing by, out with a friend or those just wanting a wee coffee break, you can grab a Dime Bar cake or even a tirimasu to go with that much needed caffeine hit. Expect to sip away to an eclectic mix of music from The Velvet Underground to The Goodfellas soundtrack. Ecco 808 il Café is definitely worth a visit, not just for locals but those looking for a cosy little nook on the edge of Glasgow’s west end. You should definitely try out this humble little slice of Italy in the city.
